3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 yngwie (8703) - Kristiansand, NORWAY - NOV 24, 2005
UPDATED: FEB 25, 2010 Bottled at Fynske Øldage, Odense, Denmark. Quite flat, dark golden, with an off-white head. Aroma is mostly malty sweetness and alcohol. Warming, sweet malty flavor. Full bodied. Rating: 6-3-7-4-14-3.4. 051029
Bottle, at Esbjerg Beerfestival. A clear, amber beer with a minimal off-white head. Vinous nose with alcohol, lots of caramel and sweetness. Sweet, warm flavor with caramel. Throat-warming, full-bodied and slightly sticky from the sweetness. A sipper, but too warm for my preference, more muscles than elegance. 091023

Golden dark brown colour with a nice frothy mostly lasting off-white head. Sweet aroma of some roasted malt, caramel, alcohol, spices and fruity hops. Flavour is sweet, rather smooth, nice maltiness, caramel, some spices, nice fruitiness, slight chocolate. Bit of a port like sweet dry finish. Easy to drink and pretty good with desserts. A good Echt Kulmbacher.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 thewolf (8239) - Kolding, DENMARK - FEB 9, 2008
Bottle, bought @ oeltorvet.dk.
Pours a wonderful deep orange amber with a fine creamy off white head. Doughy aroma, some rye and alcohol. Oily mouthfeel and good bite. Flavour is sweet and creamy with high sweetness and a bit cloying. Not much balance, but it’s not poor. The alcohol is impressively hidden.
2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Christian (8034) - Odense, DENMARK - FEB 6, 2006
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2008 Dark amber with a short lived, bubbly head. Aroma of malt, dried fruits, sherry, alcohol. Sweet flavour with only a bit of balancing bitterness at the end, and plenty of alcohol showing through.
Fresh beer rating: 2.7
Re-rate: A 15 years old bottle was much more pleasant. The sherry now completely dominated the aroma, and the flavour was more harmonic.
Cellared rating: 3.1
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 cgarvieuk (7981) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - MAR 6, 2007
A nice deep brown, deep caramel malt, with spirit tones, deep caramalised malt with long deep malt fruit linger.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Maria (7805) - Thisted, DENMARK - DEC 16, 2007
Golden, actually more red-brown with a nice, creamy and lasting head. The aroma is malty and slightly hoppy. The mouthfeel is fat and warming from the alcohol. The flavour is sweet and malty with notes of roasted malt and candy sugar, and the rather long finish has a light bitterness. In spite of the high ABV it’s surprising that the alcohol isn’t more obvious in the flavour. It’s not one I’ll buy again, but it’s fun to have tasted it.
