2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ober (2125) - Bommelerwaard, NETHERLANDS - JUL 28, 2008
A dark amber colored beer, with a beige head. This disappears very quckly. The aroma is very malty, caramel and sirup sweet. The taste is very sweet as well, from caramel and sirup. It’s sticky. It’s warming because of the alcohol. This is not my favourite beer.

Bottle. Deep dark copper color with a nice fluffy tan head. Malty. Very malty. Malty aroma, with some hints of vanilla. Nice touch of alcohol. No hop presence. No bitterness. Enjoyable beer.
2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 BeerLimey (2112) - California, USA - JUL 5, 2002
Spiced banana like aroma is pretty promising, while the productive foam quickly dissiaptes. Alcohol flavor dominates and makes tasting notes difficult. Maybe interesting to a Whiskey drinker but in the words of Eminem, ’I say that shit’s just clowing dog.’ It was probaly good as yhe strongest beer in the world but doesn’t even get that title anymore. Still it’s a marketing tool.

Bottled. Pours a medium amber color. Aroma is malty and sweet with a little bit of fruitiness. Malty sweet flavor. Some dark fruitiness as well. Some roasted maltiness in the finish. Alcohol is not too noticable. Enjoyable brew.

Almost no head. Orange colour. Tastes like cloudberries. But the alcohol-flavour dominates.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Dorwart (2105) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - AUG 12, 2005
Decent sized off-white head. Settles slowly to a nice dense creamy foam. Soft caramel aroma with a good shot of alcohol. Nice legs up the size of the glass. Plenty of malts and a hint of squash. Color is a a bright copper. Thick and rich flavor with loads of caramel and malts. Delicious. Very soft mouthfeel and a big alcohol kick. So smooth going down. Finish is creamy and very warming from the alcohol. Damn I like these Eisbocks. A great sipping brew.

UPDATED: JAN 20, 2010 Draught at Freakin’ Frog. Honestly a fairly nice eisbock. Poured a still copper colout with no real head. Big aroma of caramel and molassas plus a little alcohol. Huge caramel flavour plus some more sweetness from brown sugar. Finishes with some alcohol warmth. I thought it was very enjoyable.

Bottle: Very clear copper color with a small, quick to dissapate white head. No lacing at all. Nose is quite fruity, malty, and hints of cider qualities. Taste is sweet with fruits and malt with a warming alcohol finish. For my first ever Eisbock I was quite pleased.
