Pours a decent frothy head, that disappears fast. Very malty, a bit vergetable-like. Thick, sweet, malty flavor with lots of warming alcohol. A peppery fruitiness (raisin and plums). Long, malty alcoholic finish.

3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hopscotch (7274) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - SEP 21, 2003
Crystal clear, burnt orange lager with a fizzy, khaki / orange head.
In the nose, the high ABV is fairly well-hidden. Very fruity with notes of fuzzy and tropical fruit. Also, honey, dates and pineapple.
The flavor is very malty, sweet and fruity. Again, the high ABV is well-hidden under notes of smoke, vanilla, dates and pineapple. Syrupy mouthfeel. Lively carbonation. The hops and alcohol don't quite balance this big brew out. Dry, alcoholic finish. Throughout, the malt is a touch cloying. Still a very nice brew... as I once again go against the grain.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 HenrikSoegaard (7229) - Randers, DENMARK - SEP 16, 2006
Bottle. Creamy off-white good mostly deminishing head. Orange colour. Heavy malty aroma. Nice powerfull flavor, a little bit too alcoholic, average finish. Oily palate.
3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MoritzF (7137) - Bochum, GERMANY - AUG 16, 2005
(bottle) Clear amber colour with a small creamy white head. Sweet malty and fruity nose with hints of alcohol. Intense sweet flavour. Toastmalty taste with dried fruits and caramel and an alcoholic slightly hopbitter finish. Definitely not bad but it probably tastes better on a cold winter evening.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 bhensonb (7125) - Woodland, California, USA - AUG 15, 2007
Rich aroma of dark fruit - raisins, plums. Dark sherry color (and I thought that before reading the description). The white head flattened immediately. Medium bodied. Creamy carbonation. A bit of heat. Lots of darkish fruits. Indeed it is in the fortified wine range for flavor, though not for alcohol. Consider that this has the alcohol of those high gravity lagers, but notice the quality of the flavors - relatively speaking. The finish is smooth, neither sweet nor dry. Ends with caramel. Very impressive. It could pass for a Belgian ale, with the right presentation. It took some effort: "Malt concentration was doubled or tripled (the exact formula still remains secret), giving the yeasts more fuel for conversion to alcohol. Above all, since stunned yeast can only work very slowly in the presence of high alcohol levels, this beer would have to be given a lot of time. In fact, it had to be fermented in cold storage for an unheard of nine months! " A work of the brewer’s art.
