3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 shadey (1618) - Rochester, New York, USA - DEC 19, 2005
Amber color with no head. Aroma is sticky sweet and sugary, with some alcohol. Flavor is well blended. Sweet almost cloying (despite the description) and smooth. Palate is really nice. Clean finish with just a hint of the alcohol presence.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Vertical Bacon Strips (1615) - Asshat, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 20, 2009
This stuff rules! I assumed that it would be total crap...I didn’t even know it was 11% until half way through the glass when I was checking out the labels details. Scocker! ....... Poured out a slight off white head, one finger thick that quickly vanished. Only beer remained in my glass and it was a deep deep amber with a bunch of slow rising very large bubbles that stick in place at the top of the viscous brew. The top of the beer almost resembles one that was made of plastic with a bad casting leaving large encased bubbles. The aroma and taste are very similar and both are suprisingly good. 11%? Where? Warm, sweet caramel malts, cognac, sherry, cherry... one of the more interesting brews I’ve had in a long time. You know the alcohol is there but it isn’t all that noticable as it is blended in well - way better than most other strong Euro’s. Thick and syrupy, there is some alcohol bite after all noticable mostly on the aftertaste which is mainly a lingering fruity malt that covers the whole mouth. Highly recommended.
2.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 4/20 Furseth (1612) - Kungälv, SWEDEN - MAY 8, 2006
Tsted 15/8-05: Bottle: Dark red bodym with a medium whit foam. Aroma of bread, citrus, and lots og alcohol bitternes in the end. Tasted like something in between Liqure and brown ale. To sweet and to mutch of bitter alocohol aftertaste in the finish.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 drjay44 (1612) - Salida, Colorado, USA - JUL 25, 2010
11.2 oz bottle. Pours a short lived, off white head, over a clear amber (SRM 8) body.....nose is heavy with raisin, dried cherry, caramel/toffee, brown sugar.....taste is sweet with raisin, fig, dried cherry, finishing with light tones of Oloreso Sherry....mouth feel is thick and slightly sticky, alcohol is well hidden, carbonation is medium high. This is not an Eisboch. It is a Doppleboch and meets the characteristics quite well. As further proof both the BJCP and the Brewery list it as one. The beer is well done. BJCP 8/3/15/4/8

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 craftycarl21 (1584) - Washington DC, USA - NOV 26, 2008
Pours a very clear amber with little head. Aroma strong with molasses, plum, and malt. Flavor is excellent, with the molasses combining with malt, honey, and caramel to create a really nice sweet but drinkable brew. Palate is nice- not too thick like many beers of this sweetness, but still sticks to the tongue quite nicely. Very nice beer.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 BeerHawk (1580) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - APR 7, 2009
Bottle. Poured amber with an off-white head that settles to a ring and left light lace. Sweet aromas of brown sugar, honey, and a light alcohol backing. The flavor found honey and malt with a light bourbon undertone. Medium body and sweet.

A very cloying orange coloured beer. Little carbonation. Loads of sweet malt flavors, with a slight burnt character. A strong alcoholic kick on the finish. Not really my style at all.
