This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Copper color, intense reddish against a backlight, with a small head that quickly disappears. Malty aroma with some yeast. Deep taste to nuts, cake and alcohol. Very heavy and hard to finish, and not because the alcohol. Good beer for a dessert (and I’d rather have a Samichlaus), but nothing else.

I didn't take any extra notes when I tried this beer for the first time but I'm gonna try it again and update my comments. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Clear , amber color . Medium-sized, off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and dried fruits. Sweet, but not nauseous, malty taste. Warming finish. Great balanced, malty brew.

Clear amber color with off white head. Vinous aroma of alcohol, cherries, raisins and port wine. Tastes of cherries as well, and I like cherries. Very sweet, but a nice tangerine sweetness. Hefty beer with lots of flavor.

330 ml bottle. Garnet color topped by a small beige cap. Nose is vinous malt with notes of toasted cinnamon Pop Tarts. Flavor is bittersweet malt with a hint of salted caramel and brandy. Faint resiny, herbal hops. Finishes dry with a warming alcohol burn. I first had this about 30 years ago when it was one of the strongest beers in the world. Quite unique back then. Not so much now. Still, an interesting tasting brew with whiskey-like qualities.

Copper colored, small to no beige head, non lasting. Aroma is of malt, candy caramel-fruity and dried fruits, pretty sweet, notes of alcohol. Taste is moderate+ sweet caramel and candied fruits, some nuts, toffee, low bitterness, alcohol and alcohol warmth provided. Medium to strong bodied and moderate carbonation, thick and syrupy.

Pours a clear amber color, topped with a medium off-white head. Malty aroma, dark fruity feel and caramel. Taste is sweet and malty, lots of alcohol presence (too much), some bitterness in the finish and metallic a bit. Just not nice.

11.2 oz. bottle served in shaker- poured a 85% transparent (other 15 is kind of cloudy), darkened brown color, 2mm white foamy head formed and laced very nicely upon the vessel. Aroma of alcohol, clove, and banana. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt is washed in a sea of alcohol much like I will be shortly, hard clove in the middle, finish is very boozy. Would tear this apart, but I’m getting loaded tonight!
