This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Nice and strong, but too sweet and the alcohol taste lingered after the finish.I’ll have a few of these laying around for a while,so I’ll try it again in the future.[possible re-rate?]

Bottle (from Alcostock). Pours amber. Aroma is sweet, malt, caramel, some fruits, and a lot of booze. Flavor is sweet and bitter, sugar, booze, malt, caramel, booze, some fruits, grains, some cardboard. Finish is booze and sweet caramel with some bitterness. Overall: not good, not good at all. More hobo style ESL than proper doppelbock.

Bottle. Bronze body, head disappears to nothing quite fast. Aroma has sweet caramel, toffee and almonds. Full mouthfeel, a bit sticky but not syrupy like barley wines. Taste has almonds, caramel and big bready malts. Simple yet effective. Finish has alcohol heat and some sweetness but indeed, it never gets cloying. So for a 11% brew it’s rather well drinkable.

Marduk (6434) - Reval, ESTONIA - JUL 30, 2016
330ml bottle. Clear dark amber color. Foamy head at start, but disappears quite quickly. Sweet, alcohol, metallic, malty in aroma. Sweet, almost raisins, malty, nutty oiliness in taste. Alcohol in aftertaste. Soft carbonation. Sweet and boozy, but not a horror. Good start for a day!

Vom Flasche. Slightly boozy cherry wood aroma. Ambet and all head dissipates quite quickly. Nice sweet some marzipan and wood barrel. Warms up, it IS pretty strong. Medicinal herbs and a long syrupy sticky finish on this guy. Really not baf, but it’s a huge beer and not something I would drink often.

Bottle - clear golden orange, low carbonation and no head. Sweet aroma and very sweet tasting - too malty flowery for me. Ok mouthfeel.

Atypique pour une bière allemande. Couleur rouille, belle carbonatation. Du sucre et de l’alcool bien maitrisé. Amertume à peine perceptible.

Moravius (1130) - Berlin, GERMANY - MAY 25, 2016
Flasche (33 cl) von Grabsch, Berlin. - Goldbraun, klar.
