COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Aroma promises one thing, in massive quantities: Malt! The flavor delivers, but it’s still quite sweet. Color is like that of a copper Pfennig. A great dessert beer.

My first Eisbock. I like it. Deep red-orange, with initially big and dense yet eventually diminishing offwhite head. Aroma of malt, dried fruit, and alcohol. Flavor has lots of dried fruit, cotton candy, some malt, and brandylike notes. No discernable hops. Full-bodied. Much more balanced and pleasing than the previous ratings had led me to expect. If I had tasted it blind, I would have pegged it for something Belgian.

(Draft) If you like whiskeys and barleywines, you'll really appreciate this unique and lovely beer. On the other hand, if your concept of beer requires such frivolities such as a head of foam or an odor of hops, you are likely to be disappointed. Those with a taste for such things will be rewarded by a delicious brandied malt flavor, an exquisite golden orange color, and glowing, sticky palette that ends in a haze of alchohol. Not for the faint of heart.

I am surprised at the ratings for this beer. Guess it's a love it or hate it. However, this is what I would expect from this kind of a beer. Slightly cloying, alcohol everywhere,(it has legs), thick, vanilla somewhere in there, malt, lots of things going on, complex. Winter warmer is a understatement. Great end of the night beer, or better yet, this one will knock ya out.

I poured this right down the middle of the glass and it produced an average size head that was creamy and of average duration for the style. The body was a brilliantly clear deep golden beer. The aroma was complex. Toasted malts, caramel and alcohol. Sweet, almost cloying if it weren’t for the alcoholic bite. Bock’s answer to Barleywine!

Bottle, pre-Rita festivities. Pours a beautiful golden brown, with glorious lacing. Aroma is alcohol, molasses, raisin, and toffee. Flavor is a sweet ass-kicking of alcohol, sugar, toffee, and cotton candy. Wonderfully coating palate soothes the tongue. Great beer.

Wow. I was blown away by the INTENSE flavor of this one. I’m a big fan of Erdinger hefeweisen and this by comparison is like taking Erdinger an multiplying it by 3x the flavor intensity plus a bit of sugar and a bit more complex flavor. I guess if it came down to it, I can more easily drink large quantities of Erdinger. This is a bit more potent than I’m used to, but I have a feeling that I could get used to this beer really fast. It’s definitely not what I expected after drinking so many lackluster German beers lately.’

This is a tough one to describe. I have noticed that when you hit the 11% alc mark you can feel the belly warming effect. This pours a beautiful brassy amber color. Faint head. This is a true sipping beer. I liked it.
