COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Pours nearly clear orange with a 1 finger, frothy beige head. Aroma is sweet caramel, sweet white bread rolls, cereal grain, sweet grass, woody notes, light sweet bread spice and hints of nut brittle. Flavor is sweet caramel, bread pudding, raisin puree, sweet hay, caramel coated granola, spicy hops, sweet bread spice, cereal grain, white bread crust, toasted nuts and anise. Palate is medium to heavy in body, a little syrupy on entry and pleasantly warm and slightly dry with alcohol after that and a moderate carbonation. Pretty tasty Eisbock, sweet and rich, but not overly so. Could be a little more complex and less hotly boozy though.

Pours like the picture. Nose is malt heavy and sweet with raisin, brown sugar, and alcohol. Flavor is similar, a little saltier, heavily sweet and sugary, more alcohol. Medicinal with warmth. Syrupy body, short finish of bread and alcohol. Decent, but a little one sided.

Bottle. Pours a nice brown with thin white head. Aroma is sweet malts with notes of bread, alcohol, wheat, and yeast. Palate is thick. Flavor brings out some carmel and a winey/brandy type taste. It finishes a little dry leaving a sweet aftertaste.

11.2 oz bottle. Clear amber with a quickly dissipation off white head. Aroma of caramel, graham cracker, plum, and some alcohol. The flavor is lots of sweet sugary malt, some caramel, bread and grains, with light alcohol heat. Thick medium body with mild carbonation and a sweet, syrupy mouth feel. This is a sweet one and a bit unbalanced, definitely prefer the regular Eisbock from Kulmbacher.

Bottle @ home. Fairly small orange/tan head with a red/orange body. Incredibly sweet malty nose that’s somewhat wine-like due to the concentration. Very sweet amber malty and fairly intense flavor. Very rich body and a sweet finish.

This bottle pours clear red with a thin tan head that mostly disappears. Aroma is caramel sweetness, slight alcohol and sweet fruit. Thick sweet taste with a little alcohol coming through the nose almost making it taste like cough syrup. It has a very rich texture and flavor to it and finishes well. Plus the label tells about the German law Reinheitsgebot but it’s all in German. Good authentic brew.
