COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This world-famous beer has the character and richness to stand in for fine sherry or port. Just the right degree of sweetness - never cloying; wonderfully aromatic and warming. EKU 28 is the one whenever something good and strong is needed.

Bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours a crystal clear rosy amber color with minimal head. Nose of candied tree fruits and sweet malts. Flavor is a little boozy with sweet malt and sweet fruits.

UPDATED: OCT 25, 2006 Wow! Talk about a Malt Monster! On tap at Über in Seattle into an EKU 28 style tall snifter glass. Pours a deep to light reddish orange hue with a tiny white head that quickly dissappears. The aroma is 100% sweet malt for the most part. There is some brown sugary tones in there somewhere, but really is over taken by a huge malt factor. The flavor is like a malty syrup that coats the palate, tasting first of that huge sweet malt you smell on the nose, mixed with raisins, brown sugars, and dark fruits...and again everything gets overtaken by malt! Once this malt sweep happens, a very "in-your-face" alcohol flavor sweeps over the mouth, definitely being able to feel the burn on the way down. I think you’ve got to be into this sort of this, and sometimes it done a lot better than this, but I kind of liked it! Didn’t know the EKU 28 was an Eisbock until I read here, but I can totally see that now. Overall, not the best Eisbock ever, but definitely a strong malt madman if you’re looking for one.

Dark transparant orange/copper with a small head. Sweet and malty aroma; toffee, caramel, sweet cookie-dough, port, candy sugar, alcohol, raisins. The taste was also dominated by the malt, very sweet & full-bodied, with enjoyable roasted malt notes. Medium/long finish. Large and thick mouthfeel, almost cloying from the sweet full-bodiedness, medium/light carbonation. Tasty.

Pours perfect amber. Glorious! Think white head doesn’t last long. Nose is very spirit like. Reminds me of Macallan, maybe Glenkinchie single malt. Thick, full bodied, alcoholic warmth, and caramel infused syrupy. Warm and honeyed towards the finish. Aftertaste is very malty sweet.

first whiff is of barley and light alcohol, aroma travels well, sweet sugar, and some grassy wheat elements. pleasant and hints at a strong sweet flavor. taste matches that with a burst from the alcohol and jam packed sugaryness. My pour lacked much staying power in the head, but it was bubbly and a orangeish brown hue. palate is a little hot from the ABV, carbonated. Overall, it’s got a lot of good parts and nothing really bad, but the combination of bubbles and alcohol puts me off a bit. It gets a bit better as it airs out but also acquires a more liquor like personality. 8/2/7/3/14

12 oz. bottle. Pours a clear, effervescent amber with a moderate amount of thick, cream-colored head. Cool appearance. Fruity aroma features apple, peach, fruitcake, and golden raisin scents. Licorice (anise) dominates the flavor, at least initially. Yellow plum, mango juice, an apricot pie flavors also present. Sweet and rich, spicy taste. Odd but interesting, spicy aftertaste. Thick and fizzy in the palate. Alcohol burn as it goes down the throat. Not as hard to drink as one might expect. EKU 28 is, somewhat surprisingly, not bad, but it*s certainly not an every day beer.

(GERMANY) Pours a nice amber / orange color with zero head. Has a flowery / alcohol aroma with a lingering fizzy body. The taste is strong, With malty, alcohol flavor and some hints of honey. The finish goes down very warm !!! Plus watch out for the 11% it could knock you for a loop. :)

Looks like polished copper. Cedar chip aroma with a drizzle of homemade maple syrup and a hint of lacquer. Head is an afterthought, lacing a whisper barely heard. Mouth feel is two-dimensional. Starts out with a gingerbread heaviness, caramelized sugar follows. Dried fruit (dates, raisins, figs) set up the backbone. Finishes with a eucalyptus-like astringency.
