An amber body is topped by a thin white quickly disappearing sodalike head with no lace. Sweet malty aroma with subtle alcohol notes and a maple syrup character. Sweet strong malt flavor with maple syrup and caramel notes and very light alcohol notes. Thick and chewy on the palate with tingling on the tongue. Full bodied and warming.

Clear orange-amber with a nice head, although it settled a bit quickly. The aroma is heavy and sweet, with a sense of mashed raisins. Likewise, this heavy-alcohol flavors pour onto the tongue ... date, prune, heavy syrup. Warming to the palate.

Small tan head, fades quickly. Clear amber color. Malty, fruity, alcoholly nose. Full bodied, slick mouthfeel. sweet malt flavors. Hints of chocolate and anise with the alc. being fairly evident, warming as it goes down. Finish is sweet and bitter at the same time.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MAP (1133) - Lakewood, Ohio, USA - MAY 16, 2004
Glassy brandy color with no consistent head. Aroma contains notes of grape, gum, and the standard flowery side. Well difined palate as it is crisp at first but follows through with an oily feel with the alcohol. Flavor isn’t much to write home about, but it does make for an enjoyable beer (but that might just be the 11% talking.)
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 CEZ (386) - Milano, ITALY - APR 11, 2003
Another beer in the "love it or hate it" category. Beautiful dark orange color, but poor head. Aroma and taste are strong and sweet with notes of toffee, caramel, orange and, well, alcohol. The aftertaste is full and lasting, and can lead you to believe you just had a sip of brandy wine. Not exactly my idea of "beer", but fascinating, in a sort of way... even if I had to eat something along, in order to be able to finish my bottle...

Pour is a dark orange with a white head Aroma is lots of caramel and brown sugar. Lots of brown sugar in the flavor so much so it takes over the flavor. overall its ok. try an drink it on an empty belly.,as it is very heavy.

Nice pour with a full white head. A beautiful beer to look at. Copper colored with a long lasting effervescence. Aroma was, to me, a bit funky. It smelled like overripe/rotting oranges. Despite this I slogged on anyway. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the aroma was not indicative of the flavor. The taste was malty with spice and some fruit notes, none of which were rotten. The finish was warm but hid the alcohol fairly well.

strong beer tasting '04: deep amber, small head. butterscotch, hard candy and alcohol on the nose. flavour starts out nicely with a mix of dried fruit - cherries, raisin, date, cranberry. then goes kind of funky with a pet food kind of taste. not bad overall, though.
