3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 tbookman (618) - Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA - SEP 2, 2005
Medium amber color - very opaque. Aroma of malts, toffee and a hint of whiskey. Flavor is strong with alcohol, crisp and kind of cloying sweetness.

Bright orange copper color with a fleeting off white head. Sweet fruit, (oranges, cherries and peaches) malt and ruber aroma. Wafts of alcohol. Oily texture with early sweetness that turns to a lacquer alcohol finish that burns in the mouth. Finish is just too biting and thin (like a shot of jaegemeister) to make this one more enjoyable.

Is this what happens when your only goal is to make a beer with high ABV? There are many beers with this level of alcohol that are so much better. The beer pours clear brown with a reddish tint and an uneven soapy light tan head that disappears very quick. Aroma is rich caramel and alcohol - lots of sweetness. Syrupy thick body with very little carbonation. Flavor starts with alcohol and caramel - rich and sweet. Finish has even more alcohol - warm finish. Whilst this has lots in the ABV department it is quite boring and unimpressive.

UPDATED: FEB 29, 2004 fresh: oops i dropped a sugardaddy candy in my dog's food..oh wait, nevermind, that was the aroma of this beer...what do you get when you take a farm's load of barley malt, absolutely no hops, too much sugar, and some yeast??...this horrifically strong tasting brew!... I heard that suicide bombers in Afghanistan drink this right before they die so to take their minds off of the pain of dying...sorta like biting your lip when you stub your toe...substituting one pain for another...so if you ever stub your toe or plan on bombing a discotech or subway train..this beers for you (1.8) 1992 version, drank 2004: Wow, what a frickin' improvement..this was like a chocolate malt shake...similiar to an aged samiclaus. UPDATED: FEB 26, 2007 Pleasant but a bit disgusting. A really strong flavor (caramel, matl) for a really strong beer, too much alcohol. Easy to find in france

Full bodied and smooth.

Dark orange colour. Prickly mouthfeel, loads of Co2. Thick almondy flavour profile with lots of sugar sensed - and alcohol. And glue.

Bottle - thanks to BeerCellar2 for the trade. Pours clear amber orange with no head. Aroma is sweet, burnt candy sweet, toasted powder sugar sweet with mixed floral and wood notes. Flavor is also sweet with lots of alcohol evident, somewhat burning - like a liquier and contrary to their commercial description, somewhat cloying. Full bodied and no carbonation. Definitely a unique brew, but not my favorite style.

picked this old bottle up at the local liquor store near my base / sweet, bready, caramel and nuts aroma; deadish appearance, honey-brown color, slightly thickish tan head, decent lacing; sweet, caramel, vinous aftertaste, dulls as it ends; a little sweet, could be cloying, goes down smooth with not much alcohol presence!

11.2 oz. bottle. Pours a nice amber color w/ a light white head. Smells heavily of caramel and hard alcohol. Light to medium bodied, goes down like hard alcohol, burning sensation in esophagus. Interesting brew.
