2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pils in general aren’t my favorite. This very clear beer has a muted sweet aroma. It goes down clean and smooth but leaves me wanting more. Something good to wash down a bratwurst, but not something to savor on its own.

This beer has everything you expect in a slightly bitter Pils, with very little frills. This makes the beer very drinkable, yet still one would expect more variance from a beer from Krombach. This is a non-nonscence Pils that has absolutely no frills.

bottle @ Party Source / Bellevue KY --- Clear medium amber with a foamy 2" white head, bubbly bands of lace. Good looking (like the 1950 era beer ads). Aroma of malt and corn. Taste is malt that adds floral hops on the swallow, showing a bit of clay as it moves on to a lingering bittered finish. A light brew, but a reasonable pilsener.

Una buona pilsener con un buon grado alcolico. Aspetto molto limpido e dorato, corpo medio, luppolatura giusta

(Bottle) From State Line Liquors, MD. I was pleasantly surprised by this one...the commercial description hints at being maltier, and I agree, it’s a little maltier than typical for a Pilsner. Still pleasantly hoppy though and not too heavy. Very enjoyable. Among the best of the bottled German Pilsners I’ve tried in the US.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The 6th and final Lager/Pilsner on 15th Sep 2014 during a tasting session with my son. This was the best of a pretty poor bunch! half litre bottle: BBD 2nd Mar 2015. Good looking brew, golden, clean and bright with a full white crown: just like a Pilsner should appear like. The nose was thin, like most in this style, there was a hint of hop bitterness but nothing much. The taste was a crisp hop bitter flavour and very little malt sweetness compared to the other brews we shared during the evening. A good solid Pilsner although it only stood out because the others were so sweet and bland.

Can from Petit Marché in Imazato. Shared at my Summer Plunder Tasting as a palate cleanser. It pours a crystal clear gold with a foamy white head & a sweet sugary light malt aroma. Medium bodied with a round mouthfeel. The taste is sugary sweet light malts and a sharp mildly bitter finish. OK, it served it’s purpose and for 100 yen for a pint I felt satisfied.

16 oz pils glass draft at Gralehaus in Louisville, Kentucky (technically in the garden between Gralehaus and Holy Grale). The pour is a clear golden with a one inch pure white head. Great retention on the head. The aroma is cracker malt along with a bit of mineral and earth. The taste is fresh and crisp, nice malt character along with grass and mineral in the finish. The palate is light bodied with soft carbonation, unfiltered mouth feel and a bit of sweet in the finish. Clean and tasty Pils.
