29/09/2011 35cl bottle @Ronny’s place, La Paz - BB 22/6/12 (2011-464)
Clear brown beer, cola like, aery beige head, very unstable. Aroma: sweet, come caramel, dry and dusty, some mocha. MF: ok carbon, light body. Taste: sweet sugary, some caramel. Aftertaste: some mocha, sweet and sugary, cloying. Could serve as a decent "table beer" (Belgian style) to give to the kids.
1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 teddybeer (770) - Madrid, SPAIN - SEP 25, 2011
Bottle 33cl. Black beer with a creamy beige head. It smells to toasted sweet malts with a taste similar to a coffee with 10 sugar spoons inside, very, very, very sweet. Not drinkable for my taste. Medium body and soft carbonation.
3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SanfordBrewer (1261) - Sanford, Florida, USA - SEP 9, 2011
Opaque black with a dense tan head, creamy full body with medium carbonation.
Aroma: chocolate malt, leafy hops.
Taste: funky adjuncty sweetness, nutty chocolate malt, and some leafy hops. A bit of diet coke character.
Very sweet.
3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 rand (820) - SWITZERLAND - JUN 6, 2010
Bottle 350 cm3 from Yaka-Awa Supermarket in Neuchâtel (CH). Black with compact beige foam, sticking on the glass. Scent of roasted malt, traces of dark chocolate. Mouth surprisingly soft, sweetened, quite of malt, coffee cream, supple and round. Keys licorice and Pepsi, insignificant bitterness. "Low Alcohol" is not a style of beer, we go here more towards Oud Bruin Dutch, but I think rather at the beer of Diest (Belgium), a style today disappeared.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20 daknole (5859) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - SEP 7, 2009
What a wierd drink! Looks like a coke. Smells like a coke mixed with a malty beer. flavor is sweet and thick. This must be close to a malta? Odd.
2.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 4/20 Murple (1) - Virginia, USA - FEB 24, 2009 does not count
It’s somewhere between a non-alcoholic Latin American malt drink and a dark beer. Great if you want a sweet and refreshing beverage, or want a beer that doesn’t cloud your mind much. Not something I’ll drink often, but will certainly drink it again.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 altonbrownd (3587) - Brussels, BELGIUM - JAN 25, 2009
Thanks Iris for bringing this back! Dark body with slight head. Aroma of nuts and sugar. Taste of coffee, nuts and sugary. A bit cola-like. Okay.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jgb9348 (3496) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - JAN 17, 2009
Deep cola coloured brown body with a small tan head. Aroma of sweet nuts, raisins, sugars and malt. Light-bodied; Sweet raisiny taste with some figs, nuts and coffee also. Aftertaste shows the sugars last a while longer and a few other ’different’ tastes. A wierd and pleasant respite from the traditional Bolivian beers. I sampled this 330 cm3 bottle purchased at a Supermercado on Monsenor Rivero (road) in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on 17 August 2006.
