COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Two-row malt, meet Nelson Sauvin and Citra. Fast friends indeed. As sleek as a 9% DIPA can be with the sharp hop tone of lemon peels filled in by orange marmalade and just utter dankness. And you thought those tankers off-shore were just unloading crude...
2 pounds of dry hops per barrel. Thatís right.

Previously 9%.

Beautiful soft gold pour with one to two fingers of white head. Very nice nose with lots of resin, citrus rind, pear, candy, peaches and a soft sweetness. Strong in the flavor with lots of resin and citrus rind. Very forward bitterness upfront that finishes moderate. Medium full body.

BOD 3/11/16. Pours a clear dark gold with a touch of garnet. Outstanding head volume, world class lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of dank citrus (lemon) over a nice cracker biscuit. Underneath are hints of light spruce and grape. Light medium body that is smooth. Well balanced carbonation level for the body with a light effervescence in the middle and a nice prickly finish. The flavor profile is very good. The 9.2% alcohol is reasonably covered, but does deliver a somewhat strong astringency before, during and after the finish. Balance is world class with a rich sweet (caramel, biscuit) middle providing balance to a moderate bitterness. Here the flavors separate, allowing hop complexity to shine. Mango, lemon, light spicy spruce and subtle zest flow over the dank undercurrent. As the sweetness fades, so go the hop flavors and the dank aspect, slightly vegetal, dominates. The finish is dry with a dank and slightly astringent alcohol off flavor that lingers.

phaleslu (8969) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - MAR 2, 2016
Draft at Beercraft shared by one of the bros. Pours a clear gold color with a small eggshell white head that settles into a ring while lacing the glass. Has a sugary cream note atop citrus and florals, pale malts, marmalade, and pine. Light-medium bodied, with medium carbonation and a very sweet, barely bitter mouthfeel. Out of balance, and not in a favorable direction for me.

Keg at Beercraft during íRBWG 2016í. Pours clear orange-gold with a creamy, white head. Fresh, juicy citrus fruits in the nose, some pine accents. Medium to heavy sweet flavour with moderate piney and grassy bitterness, grapefruit, alcohol, melon. Full bodied with average carbonation. Warming and resinous on the finish, with some bready pale malts, booze, orange, tangerine, oily pine. Heavy-hitting gear - itís just a little too much.

Draught at Beercraft. Clear golden liquid with medium white head. Aroma of citrus, tangerine, light caramel, light booze and mango. Taste is dry and medium to high bitter with notes of citrus, tangerine and grain. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Nice.

Moderately danky and pissy nose. Fairly clear golden pour. Taste is immediately bitter with a touch of alcohol warming. Decent. Flavor seems dominated by alcohol and pepper and not enough hop flavor while being too malt forward.

Keg @ Beercraft. Deep gold, small head. Orange peel. Some caramel malt. A bit of pine. Flavor is a touch boozy. Syrupy. Caramel malt. Pine cone and general green biomass. More orange peel. A bit oily. Relatively full body.

Light haze on this gold beer, good pale cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly dry and has a fine crispness. Smooth malts, lightly sweet with a nice amount of cream. Resinous piney hops and spicy orange. Bitterish orange peel. Little tangerine. Itís a smooth hop profile, but with muscle. Finishes semi dry with hop spice and peel bitterness lingering on. Nice one.

Bottle: Clean golden hue with good head and lace. Grapefruit pithy and piney earthliness on top of pale biscuity malts with a touch of wine notes from the Nelson Sauvin. Aggressive and brash even at a month old. Controlled dankness and minerally notes too. I think this is my favorite of the 4 hoppy brews from them so far. (Shockingly ícause I am not a fan of the Nelson)
