A brazenly hop-forward beast of a beer, with a huge passionfruit nose. A subtle caramel character provides a malt backbone to shoulder the massive amount of dry-hopping that gives this beer its unique aroma and hop flavor. Two 5 Left is the runway that sends planes screaming right over El Segundo. We always knew we would name a beer after this local landmark and when it came to naming our first Double IPA, it fit the bill perfectly.

UPDATED: DEC 19, 2013 Bomber. Solid DIPA. LA is stepping it up in the beer game and this Angeleno is pleased. Pours a rich, clear amber with a nice beige head. Smell gives you the promised passion fruit, a bit skunky in the dank sense -- not the green bottle blues. Taste is what you’d expect from a solid DIPA, a bit sweet but not cloying. Carbonation visible but not as present in the mouth. It’d be tough to drink two straight but try me.

Bomber poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. Aromas of caramel, orange zest, tropical fruit, peach and pink grapefruit. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of caramel, grapefruit, tangerine, light tropical fruit and a hint of pine with a smooth dry bitter lingering citrus finish.

Bomber from Bev4Less. Pours a clean looking amber-brown-orange. Minimal head. Aromas are sweet pale malt and something lemony. A little bit of dank bittering hop presence comes through as well. Taste is clean and good. Lots of citrus and passion fruit, good balance. Solid brew. Nothing spectacular or all that unique, but an excellent DIPA, with none of the usual problems of the style (too much malt, overcompensated hops, etc.).

Pours a dark orange-amber with a one finger off white head with nice lacing. Aroma is of pine resin, citrus (a lot of grapefruit) tropical fruit (a lot of passion fruit) sweet malts, and caramel. Taste is similar the aroma but has even more sweet malts, caramel, and maybe a little toffee. Has a medium body with a creamy, slimy mouthfeel, and a slight dry, moderately bitter, medium long finish. Overall, a pretty tasty well balaced DIPA that has a soild malt backbone to back up its hoppyness.

Light hoppy aroma; amber appearance with a white head; strong hoppy taste; light fizz on the palate with a strong bitter finish; overall a solid though not spectacular DIPA

Pours a dark amber. Has a heavy malt aroma with some caramel. Taste is far more malt than hops, and is very thick and heavy. Taste also has some apices and pomegranate.

22 oz. bottle, sent from Neillago (thanks a lot, Neil), pours a hazy golden orange with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out loads of resinous hops, pine, and some dry caramel malt. Flavour is uber dry ad hoppy, with loads of dry pine, floral hops, and just enough crackery malt to back. Super dry and refreshing, with a lingering hoppy astringency. Bitter and dry, just how I love my IIPAs. Excellent.
