COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We take our Poppy Jasper Amber and spike a finished keg with an extra pound of hops. For example Extra Hoppy Poppy Amarillo has an extra pound of Amarillo hops added to the keg to dry hop in it. This adds a boost of hops flavor. Since each different variety of hops has its own flavor the type of hops added will vary the flavor of the base Poppy Japser accordingly. If you are into hops, this method of hop spiking a keg will allow you to better understand the characteristics of that particular hop. Its and educational thing we do on our part for you. Plus the flavors added this way are really nice (as Borat would say).

Draught at the brewpub. Had both the centennial and columbus versions, and the columbus was better, so this is what I took notes on. They also had a simcoe version on that my mom had, which had a great aroma, but I didn’t have much of it. Lightly hazy amber-red with a small creamy head. malty aroma with some floral and citrus hops. Caramel and toasty malt flavors with grapefruit and spicy hop flavor and light yeasty flavor. I just think that it’s cool that they have three different dry-hopped versions of this beer on in addition to the regular version. Tasty stuff too, though nothing amazing.

Copper color. Aroma is toasted malt, caramel, and some herbal hops. Flavor is much of the same with a lingering earthiness in the finish. Not really that "extra hoppy" but it was nice.

On tap @ El Toro Brewpub dry-hopped with Simcoe poured a clear copper with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of carmel, citrus and apricot. Palate was medium bodied, smooth and slightly dry. Flavors of carmel, orange and apricot with a lingering dry bitter finish.

Well done malty and hoppy brew. I do not like Ambers overall. But hter is an exception to every rule. Big dry caramel and tea malt. Nice floral and resinous hops. Bittering is perfect. Great mouthfeel and very clean finish.
