2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 BARLEYWINEO (106) - Tacoma, USA - APR 28, 2012
A: Poured a burnt orange color with good carbonation, nice white cap and some soapy like bubbles and lacing remains
S: Toasty, grapefruit, some spicy notes witha whiff of toasty smoke
T: Oh boy. I’m not exactly how fresh this IPA is but it needs help. First sip is bittering orange peel, grapefruit, spicey, biscuity, toasted with a faded hop presence. The back end is a slick, grapefruit hop bite with a annoying buttery bite blended with hop bitterness, some astringency and booze.
M: Heavy, unplesasnt and disturbing
O: Wave the white flag.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Reid (1434) - Salem,Oregon, Oregon, USA - OCT 1, 2011
12 oz bottle from "Lifesource" Salem. $2.25
Burnt orange hazy body to this beer with a lovely creamy, thick off white head. Handsome.
Floral,spicy, fruity hop aromas abound..invigorating.
An intensly hoppy taste..yet not harsh at all but smooth..i think this is because it HAS a substantial malt back bone..even if its not obvious under the hop attack.Semi dry finish some marmalade flavours aslo. Good.
Great thick,luscious palate..smooth..very nice.
I really liked this IPA..very smooth and easy.
3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 BK7 (304) - Turner, Oregon, USA - SEP 26, 2011
Bottle. A bitter India Pale Ale from start to finish. Slightly unbalanced but still very drinkable.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Alphadelic (1470) - Portland, Oregon, USA - JUL 23, 2011
Amber with some good, clingy lacing. A surprisingly cereal aroma, sweet and sticky. A lot hoppier in the mouth. Plenty of herbal pine and citrus rind flavours. The bitterness is a little harsh and grating but it remains reasonably drinkable. Orangey and sticky.
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 BillKismet (2760) - Seattle, Washington, USA - JUN 5, 2011
Bronzed body with a very fluffy, egg white head. Pineapple hoppy nose that moves into the gustatory realm as well, with another dose of liquid pineapple hop together with some some citrus flares. Easy leafiness. Not bad.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 raphael (665) - Portland, Oregon, USA - MAY 16, 2011
A slightly over-aged brie smell, a swampiness with some hop bitter still cutting through, and oak. a golden head on yellow-amber clarity, very light in the mouth but still a good presence, raspy to the tongue. I taste oak, resin, caramel—the balance goes to the hops but still contained. Hoppy finish
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 joeneugs (1602) - Livermore, California, USA - MAY 1, 2011
Orange pours with a white head. The aroma is toffee, caramel and herbal, tropical hops. The flavor is very bitter without a whole lot of flavoring or aroma hops. Theres some pine and earth with some buttered toffee for balance. This was a nicely balanced and potently bitter IPA. Would have liked more aroma hops.
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 boFNjackson (2935) - Portland, Oregon, USA - APR 4, 2011
Bottle... Poured burnt orange/amber with a thick, beige-is head. Nose had some floral, perfumey hops. Lots of bitterness here with hop flavors of pine, pepper spice, and very resinous with a residual hop finish. Malt tones balanced but were definitely the illegitimate chile here.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Beardface (1497) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - MAR 16, 2011
Bottle from Bier Stein. Hazy orange pour with a light white head. Nice mixture of hop aromas, with citrus and grass being most prominent but some nice pine notes as well as a modicum of caramel. Tastes malty initially, but then you get hit with a burst of citrus and pine hop notes that slowly recede back into the caramel. Pretty solid and underrated IPA in my opinion.
4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 scrizzz (2220) - Bothell, Washington, USA - DEC 3, 2010
I smelled this and proclaimed Summit hops. I was wrong. Big juicy dank aroma, some pineapple and lemongrass. Clear gold, tall proud sticky white head. More gummy pineapple coupled with abrasive pine. Strongly bitter, with a long tingly finish. Medium bodied, no alcohol sting, just gooey hops.
