12oz bottle at IL Santo Bevitore pours a water deep brown with some spitty white head. Nose has some toast and some clear black peppercorn, dried leaves, raisin, pencil lead. Flavor has malt, some molasses, bread dough, light pepper, a little weak coffee. Watery finish. Everything can be amped up.

Bottle. BB 25.11.16. Dark body, medium to small head. Timid aroma with dark roast and vague hops. Taste is kind of bland. Since the label says it has pepper in it and depicts a drawing of witch burning I was preparing myself for a really extreme spicy beer. Not the case. Almost no pepper found. Well, if I know what too look for then I can detect minuscule amounts of pepper. Hoppiness is barely adequate for the style. Despite all that it’s still a pretty nice and easygoing dark ale, just not hoppy/spicy enough to be called a pepper BIPA. Might be a disappointment to some.

33cl bottle from Drink Shop, Tallinn. Pours hazy very dark brown with a modest, creamy, beige head. Malty and fairly hoppy aroma with pine, citrus and moderate roasty notes, mild chocolate, hints of dark berries and spices. Medium sweet and somewhat complex with nicely balanced bitterness and lightly spicy finish. Easy to drink and quite tasty.

330ml bottle. Very dark brown almost black color. Small size, yellow head, stays. Sweet, hops, spicy, malty, roast, minty notes in aroma. Roasted malts, ashy, black pepper powder, nettles in taste. There is some black pepper spicyness in very late aftertaste. Woody body. Soft carbonation. Alcohol is very well hidden.

In bottiglia. Aroma di pepe, liquiriza e caffè, non molto intensi. Al palato corpo medio, buona scorrevolezza, sentori di pepe all’inizio seguito da caffè ed erbaceo finale.

Nice deep dark colour, nice nose, nice taste but nothing striking. Very pleasant to drink but not amazing. Well balanced bitterness though...
