Pitch black color, steady brownish head. Licorice pipe aroma. Medium-bodied. Licorice, ash and toasted malts. Quite dry and one dimensional.

330ml bottle recommended Italian beer at Johnny’s Off License in Roma. Bought in April 2012. Decent tan-coloured head, fine duration and good lacing. Jet black body. Smell of wood and earthy malts added by a touch of anise. Taste of dark chocolate malts and cocoa powder. Bitter roasted ending. Rounded and smooth in the mouth with warming alcohol on the swallow. Fine bodied. Good drinking (shared with Finn, Tromsø 27.11.2013).

Another beer another plate of food. Euro 5.5 for 400ml at Hop in Milano. Serious nose of dark chocolate and coffee. Palate is very similar and i cant quite reconcile how this beer is only 8.5% (as claimed). Lots of alcohol heavy chocolate running through the palate, honestly plays more like a 10% is.

(draught) pours black in colour with a frothy beige head. aroma of vanilla, dark chocolate, sweatsocks, caramel and light soy sauce. flavour is mostly the same, dark chocolate and cappuccino, with a hint of alcohol and earwax in the medium roasted-bitter finish. medium to heavy-bodied with soft carbonation.

At Mondial de la bière Mulhouse 2013 It is a decent robust porter with a hint of alcohol. Stout but not dark/powerful/strong enough to be imperial.

from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - dark beer with a persistent beige foam; roasted coffee, vanilla; ashes and some fruity hops; full-bodied, earthy; fairly bitter, long hoppy finish and more roasted malty, coffeish notes

330 ml bottle. L042/11. BB 12/2013. From Italy. Courtesy of Brandman.
Pitch black colour with a tiny tan head. Molasses, sweetness, cream, mild roastiness and rubber in the aroma. Roasted malt, black coffee, mild sweetness, mild bitterness and some darkness in the flavour. It’s remarkable how thin this is for a 8.5% beer. Well, this is not very enjoyable. Nothing really wrong with this... except the slogan... "Metal for maniacs pure!" What?
