3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
At Mondial de la bière Mulhouse 2013
It is a decent robust porter with a hint of alcohol.
Stout but not dark/powerful/strong enough to be imperial.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
330 ml bottle. L042/11. BB 12/2013. From Italy. Courtesy of Brandman.
Pitch black colour with a tiny tan head.
Molasses, sweetness, cream, mild roastiness and rubber in the aroma.
Roasted malt, black coffee, mild sweetness, mild bitterness and some darkness in the flavour.
It’s remarkable how thin this is for a 8.5% beer. Well, this is not very enjoyable. Nothing really wrong with this... except the slogan... "Metal for maniacs pure!" What?

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Bruce’s birthday tasting. Cheers to Colin for hauling this back from Italy. The pour’s deep brown with no head. The nose is big, expressive chocolate syrup, roasted grain, charred earth. The taste is bright raspberry chocolate cake. Stong notes of berry, jammy compote. Sweet chocolate. This is balanced out by more earthy roasted malts. Medium body, smooth. Overall, pretty simple, but pleasant. Nice.
