330ml bottle. Jet black colour with late aakening, small to average, creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing tan head. Herbal hoppy aroma with perfumed touch, rosemary, lavender, dark malty background with a touch of coffee. Taste is bitter, citrusy hoppy, hints of grapefruit, orange, bitter orange, slightly roasty, dark malty background, hints of dark chocolately. Hopped with tendency towards Black IPA; not overly rich and multifaceted for an Impy Stout.

Draft sample @ Birra Expo’14 Piacenza.

Sweet roasted, chestnut, some mocha, some hops. Smooth and pleasant. Taste is even more smooth. Sweet but fast from cloying, more of a tender coffee and chocolate mousse, even creamy. Pleasant bitterness. Hides the alcohol well. Really nice, almost accessible as far as imperial stouts can be that. I really dig this. (33cl bottle from Saveur Bière)

Bottle from Mi-Orge Mi-Houblon, Arlon, Belgium!
Pours deep black with huge creamy off-white head. Smell has lots of roasted malts, coffee and some bitter chocolate. Starts with lots of roasted coffee, licorice and earthy malt notes. Middle part has swwleet chocolate, coffee and some licorice. Goes into a coffee’ish finish with massive burnt roasted malts and toffee.

330 ml bottle. Pours a black colour with a beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee, some vegetables and wet earth. Flavour of roasted malts, rather strong sourness, grass, sweetness and grains. Medium bodied and high-ish carbonation. Soft but rather unbalanced. A bit dull and a bit off, I think.

Pours black with beige head. Aroma is roasted, licorice, vinous, dark chocolate and aromatic hops. Flavour is medium bitter, roasted malt and salted licorice. Delicious beer. Palate is slippery, oily and relatively thick but lightly carbonated. This one took me by surprise.

Thx! to Kraddel. 33 cl. bottle split. Black with a small mocha head. Smells of sweet mocha, coffee, sour grounds, liquorish, light roast, a bit mellow. Tastes of sour coffee, ashes, grounds, touch roast, liquorish, brown sugar, slightly b. Touch thinner than usual for the style. Not stellar but pretty nice and enjoyable. Better and definitely different from the Coal Ila BA version because there it was impossible to tell what the base beer was like.
