Bottle. Black with a medium sized slowly diminishing light brown head. Roasted malt, chocolate and cocoa in the nose. Has tar and burnt malts in the flavour too, some light sugar and earth, wood, mushroom, warming alcohol. Overall a bit unpolished and in-you-face but not without charm. Medium sweet, light/medium bitter, light acidic, soft on the palate but perhaps a bit thin, long light dry and bitter finish. Småkawt bryggeri.

Bottle. Black. Dark malty, licorice nose. Some sweets, but pretty roasty overall. Light oily body. Roasty ashy flavoured. Saltish licorice. For an impy, bit weak. Sure, has intensive roasty flavours, but just thrown together. I’d like more softness to it. Thought. Too dark tarry right now.

Deep dark brown, creamy espresso head that gives ok lacing. Sweet and bitter, salty licorice, french roast coffee, bit medical herbs. Oily feel, velvety, ash, sweet and bitter, light to medium body, long roasted finish. Tasty and nuanced, nice palate.

Countbeer (4429) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - AUG 10, 2014
Bottle: Served in a Chouffe glass: Medium sized ashy light brown head on top of a black body. Aromas of roast, coffee, herbal and malt roast, pils malts, some liquorice, iron and some oatmeal. Flavours of coffee, malt roast, bitters, some raisin and roast, serious not much else... Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, coffee, malt roast, bit dry and herbal roast. Low carbo, watery mouthfeel, medium bodied and a light watery very light oily light dry texture. Thin imperial stout, not bad but quite thin.

Bottle @ home. Aroma is caramel, liquorice, salt, fruity notes and more. Flavour is roasty liquorice, like a LOT of liquorice. not much else, maybe some caramel but this is all about liquorice. Too much imho.

shared bottle sample. poured a dark black colour with a small non lasting tanned head. dark malts, weak coffee, some bitter hops, pretty boring for a imperial stout. with a very weak bodied mouthfeel for the 8,5 abv!

Bottle from a shop in Bergamo airport (€ 6) in June 2014. Pours a deep dark brown with a creamy retaining head. Aroma is roasted malts and bitter chocolate, also smoked plums, maybe even blackcurrants; overall quite sweet. Taste is medium sweet with a bitter kick, especially in the finish, with huge roastiness and a hint of cocoa. Smooth yet thick, syrupy palate, not exactly full bodied but more than medium. Light carbonation. An alcoholic tingle joins the party after a short while. Good one. I’m really enjoying this as the last drink of a beautiful Sunday while watching Monty Python’s Flying Circus.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Alexey and Refaela’s place. Thanks Tom L. Black with a light brown head. Heavily roasty aroma with some fruitiness and chocolate. Sweetish flavor, roasty, with chocolate and a slightly burnt and bitterish finish. Full-bodied, rounded mouthfeel. Good, but doesn’t feel too "Imperial".
