On tap. Pours midnight black with medium head, darker than a latte. Aroma rich in coffee and cocoa, some dark malts. Tastes round and creamy with heavy notes of coffee. Bitterness is higher than expected with flowery hops. The aftertaste is bitter in the same way as black olives.

Botella de 330ml. Copa Globo. Deliciosa. 330ml bottle. Snifter glass. Enjoyed on agt´12. Pure black color. Beige froth creates after pouring an amazing growing up crown. Fairly good retention leaves a thin layer on top. Herbal hues, roasted coffee, black malts, prune & licorice to the nose. Firm malty backbone well balanced with heavy hoppiness & flavor expected from aromas. Full body. Soft carbonation. Oily & dense texture. Licorice in the middle lingers into a dry bitter finish. Burnt coffee on the aftertaste. Delightful.

Pours black with beige head. Aroma is roasted, licorice, vinous, dark chocolate and aromatic hops. Flavour is medium bitter, roasted malt and salted licorice. Delicious beer. Palate is slippery, oily and relatively thick but lightly carbonated. This one took me by surprise.

Beer drinked on tap @ Clock Tower Pub and in bottle @ Birrificio Indipendente Elav. A malty, chocolate and coffee aroma is followed by a hint of liquorice and hoppy flavour. No diacetil and a little alcholic note. Black in colour with a tan foam. The medium body and a delicate bitterness improve the drinkability.

from Mondial de la Bière 2013, Mulhouse - dark beer with a persistent beige foam; roasted coffee, vanilla; ashes and some fruity hops; full-bodied, earthy; fairly bitter, long hoppy finish and more roasted malty, coffeish notes

Bisogna gustarla fino in fondo, sorsata dopo sorsata e nothing else matters.

Thx! to Kraddel. 33 cl. bottle split. Black with a small mocha head. Smells of sweet mocha, coffee, sour grounds, liquorish, light roast, a bit mellow. Tastes of sour coffee, ashes, grounds, touch roast, liquorish, brown sugar, slightly b. Touch thinner than usual for the style. Not stellar but pretty nice and enjoyable. Better and definitely different from the Coal Ila BA version because there it was impossible to tell what the base beer was like.
