Bottle from Classic Deli aka Dodgy Deli, Cowley Rd, Oxford, consumed at home Saturday 5th August 2012 Dark, dark brown, actually it’s black with a creamy textured slim beige head. Smooth, touch thinnish but with an underlying roastiness that starts to show, some bitterness, but oodles of dark demarara sugar, little dry at end, tangy, quite tasty, but nothing to special. The head is ok, the body really black. It smells coffee, roasty-malty, cherry-barrel, roasty. The taste is roasty, darkmalty, coffee, a bit sweet-malty. Ok 11/10/11/10/13/11

Pours sludgy and muddy, no head worth mentioning. Looks like something you’s use for lubricating heavy machinery. Smells odd, a bit of a menthol aspect. Tastes of blue cheese. WTF?!? Does have some pleasant roasted aspects, but they’re brief and smothered by the flaws, and are ashy at times. Flat and slick palate, with carbonation that highlights the sludginess of the palate. Blue cheese, come on, that’s bad hygiene. One of the worst stouts I’ve ever had. If I was at home, this would be lining the pipes in the kitchen.

Bottle 0.33l at Viisi Penniä, Helsinki. Colour is small brownish white head. Aromas and flavours: Coffee, chocolate and roasted malts. Some weird sourness and dryness.

Bottle, Stirchley Wines, Brum. Black pour with a restrained tan head. Roast and dark choc in the nose and flavour. Lively mouthfeel not really in keeping with the style. Dried out towards the finish. Nearly but not quite.

Color caffè, scuro, schiuma cappuccino che svanisce quasi subito. Corpo medio, setoso. Carbonazione leggera, beverina. Il Gusto è dominato dal torrefatto, ancora però presente la nocciola, forse piu’ da porter. Birra discreta.

0.33l bottle @ Amarone. This is a deep dark brown - almost black one with a nice really, no make that everlasting medium sized brownish top. It smells really nice this! It’s heavy dark and roasted with strong burned coffee, dry licorice, leather and something well-hopped. I’m impressed. It has a strong and perhaps a bit to heavy aggressive carbonation level with a soft light dry mouthfeel. The flavors is in symbioses with the aroma: roasted, dry with loads of cold strong coffee. Ends with a slightly burned roasty both finish and aftertaste. Lightdrinkable with a nice strong flavor profile. 11.01.2013

33cl bottle from Trafalgar Wines, Brighton. Black beer with a lasting dark beige head. Really interested to see what this is going to be like, a Caribbean stout from Italy. Lots of roast chocolate on the aroma. Roasty in the mouth. In fact mostly roast burnt flavour and chocolate. A little grainy, a little meh. I’m not a great stout fan and there is a bit of bonfire smokiness to it I’m not keen on either. Eeek. OK, but not my thing.

Bottle. Pours black, with a nice, thick and lightly coloured head. Aroma is nice and very straight forward, with burned malts and coffee. Normal body with a quite thin, almost watery texture and soft carbonation. Flavour is sweet with kandi and syrup, as well as some burned malty bitterness and coffee sticking through the finish. Nice, but a bit one dimensional.
