(33cl bottle) Hazy, dark brown colour with a reddish shine and a massive light-beige foamy head. Sourish and slightly sweet fruity aroma of plums, Japanese ume-boshi on a light dark malty background. Sourish-sweet flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Soft toast-malty taste with a distinctive sourish fruity touch of plums and light notes of caramel in the background; sourish and slightly sweet, fruit-accented, plummy finish. Fresh sample, obviously not infected but it reminds me strongly of a Sour Ale.

Bottle from Bier Koning. Dark plummy colour. Some head. Caramel nose. Strong taste of dark fruits. Malts, raisins. Too sweet and alcohol not well hidden. Not a keeper.

Hazy deep Bordeaux couloured beer topped by a wonderful beige head that thrones on its summit forever. Spicy, yeasty ale that deserves its winter title. Dark toasty malts meet minty, cinnamon-like notes. Expanding into strawberry, maple-syrup and heavy blueberry suggestiongs. Liquid pancake it is with the sole weakness of not being that complex in malts and thus a bit fatiguing in redundant sweetness while being unreasonably thin.

(Bottled) Dark brown with a very small head. Nice aroma of licorice and roasted coffee, raisins, and some alcohol. Sweetish, syrupy-malty flavor with pronounced licorice and some ashiness. Medium-bodied, warming and sticky-syrupy palate. A quite stout-like winter warmer. Yeast makes it fuller and smoother, and also slightly more tart. Definitely not a bad one for a Dutch microbrew.

Bottle. Sweet, vinous, roasted, liquorice aroma. Cloudy, very dark brown colour. Unstable head. Flavour is powerful, some alcohol. Malt extract notes, hint of yeast.

PRZH Winterbierfestival. Malty aroma with fruits. Dark brown coloured, with a short head. Taste is sweet with rye, raisins, some spice (ginger?), coffee and chocolate roasted malts and some licorice

Bottle, PRZH Winterbierfestival. Dark color, small head. Aroma of rye, some dried fruit like prune, bit alcoholic. Taste of roasted malt, some rye, bit fruity, raisin. It resembles for a bit the ’stout’ me and skortila tried to brew once, but that wasn’t really a success.

Dark color, very poor head, disappearing quickly. Malty and yeasty aroma. The body is too thin, no malt, light roasted malt, some yeast, some sugars, very light liquorice. A quite bad homebrew, malt extracts?

33cl Bottle. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a small brown head and some yeast.. woody, smoky aroma. Flavor has some slightly sweet malt with a bitter burnt coffee finish. Thin body, no carbonation. Someone else called this beer "amateur," which i think is right on. reminds me of a home-brew porter.

Brown ale with a nice scotch wood cask aroma. No carbonation left. Rather plain sweet malt taste and light hops notes, but past its prime so difficult to judge this beer. May 1,2005 at 2nd KBC Festival, Den Bosch, NL.
