Dark ruby, small creamy tanned head. Dry, woody tobacco aroma. Medium to full bodied. Chocolaty, medium carbonated, not too sweet. Some licorice. Well-balanced suprise from Dutch microbrew.

This beer has a really full body. It warms you up in the winter. Head isn’t very long lasting. Flavor is some kind of sweet. Body very strong, almost slick.

Pours copper color with a medium head. Aroma of caramel malts, some licorice notes, ripe fruits and yeast. Flavor of sweet apricot, caramel malts, toffee and mild licorice. Very nice and complex brew.

UPDATED: JAN 31, 2010 Dark brown colour, strong lasting foamy head, which turns to mush. Slightly fresh scent, some hops, some orange, lightly smoked with some yeast. Strong yet easy to drink, slight hint of caramel.

Dark brown with a very large foamy head. Faint aroma of coffee, caramel, dark malts and a bit sterile. Taste of coffee, hops, raisins and dark malt, bitter and sour. Has a medium sour finish. Very enjoyable. The best from EleganT.

Countbeer (2853) - Best of Eindhoven ohne Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - JAN 12, 2013
Bottle: Small to medium sized beige off white with a light brown tint airy foamy head, changes quick into a unequal spread lacing on top of a deep dark brown coleed beer with a touch of blackness. Smell raisin and prunes, spices, butter, malts, some butterscotch and cream. Taste fruits like orange, lemon, prunes, raisin, there’s cream, spices, smooth malts and barleys, some herbs, sweets, light bitter and lighter sour. Aftertaste is prunes and raisin with malts, light Low carbo, soft silky mouthfeel, smooth medium bodied and a creamy texture. Interesting beer: snooth, soft, raisiny. Pretty nice.

sayravai (4655) - Helsinki, FINLAND - DEC 23, 2006
(Bottled) Dark brown with a very small head. Nice aroma of licorice and roasted coffee, raisins, and some alcohol. Sweetish, syrupy-malty flavor with pronounced licorice and some ashiness. Medium-bodied, warming and sticky-syrupy palate. A quite stout-like winter warmer. Yeast makes it fuller and smoother, and also slightly more tart. Definitely not a bad one for a Dutch microbrew.

erickok (2282) - Tours, FRANCE - FEB 28, 2011
UPDATED: MAY 30, 2011 Dark brown body with a large brown head. Aroma is very yeasty with caramel and hay. More foamy in the mouth than usual with these dark beers, but there is an interesting taste to it. Clearly leans on its malts, which makes the beer one sided but definitely interesting. Best of this brewer. (1,75 EUR, 33cl bottle)

Bottle into tulip, ’t Arendsnest, Amsterdam (3/2008). Ruby black and hard looking. Smells: port alcohol, vanilla, boysenberry IHOP syrup (per the gf), and fruitcake. Tastes thin with a hard sweetness over licorice, strawberry, and powdered sugar. Light on the tongue.

Rastacouere (6042) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - SEP 21, 2007
Hazy deep Bordeaux couloured beer topped by a wonderful beige head that thrones on its summit forever. Spicy, yeasty ale that deserves its winter title. Dark toasty malts meet minty, cinnamon-like notes. Expanding into strawberry, maple-syrup and heavy blueberry suggestiongs. Liquid pancake it is with the sole weakness of not being that complex in malts and thus a bit fatiguing in redundant sweetness while being unreasonably thin.
