This New American Black Ale, our darkest signature beer, has the malt profile of a Schwartz Beer and the floral characteristics of an IPA. Saturated in hops, this intrepid style offers smooth dark toffee flavor without the roasted bitterness.

Poured from a large bottle into a trumpet glass to drink. The beer had a full, thick black color with a deep brown hue, and a huge foamy light tan head with very good retention, good lacing, and lighter cling. The aroma had a deep roasty malt presence with earthy hops, light caramel, touches of chocolate, and some light grain and cereal with an oak presence. Its taste was bitter and grainy with oak and a deep roasty toffee flavor with dark fruits, and lighter touches of sweet caramel and chocolate with a deep bitter oak and fruit finish. The body was thick and filling, and it had a somewhat creamy mouthfeel, which was very lively and fizzy with good carbonation, and was a touch dry and watery. Thank you Tom and Tracy for the Christmas present!

Draft at Clinton hall. Deep black color. Taste like a schwartzbiet and an iPa. Just about your classic American black ale. Very good ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a very smooth during dark IPA. The 9% alcohol level does not detract from the flavors.

In short: A harsh dirty-brown ale with an assertive floral-perfumy hopping. Didn’t work for me.
How: Bottle 750ml, corked & caged, wrapping with no label. Consumed one month after purchase.
The look: Near black body topped by a medium tan head.
In long: Nose only has a low-medium hop presence and its floral character is borderline perfumy. Taste is burnt almonds swimming in caramel & toffee, a sip of cold mocha coffee, brownies cake, earth, tree bark, a whole lot of floral hops that taste like chewing on a bouquet of scented flowers after your date dumped you for the lead-vocal of a Nickelback cover band. An overall mouth drying wood sensation although I’m 99% certain this beer doesn’t get near any oak. Alcohol burn noticeable. Nothing really problematic in the brewing of this beer, I think it is just a bad recipe, at least for my taste. I’m not impressed by this brewery so far. If three of your friends tell you they love the beers of Element Brewing Company, statistically speaking there’s a pretty good chance you are the brewer of Element Brewing Company and your friends are just being nice to you.

Growler pour at the Beer Shop, East Longmeadow, MA during a meet the brewer event, 19/05/13. Very dark mahogony brown with a thin beige head. Nose is dark malt, light roast, chocolate, pinch of hops. Taste comprises roasted malt, mineral notes, chocolate, hop backbone. Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, roasted finish. Good stuff.

75cl, no mention of ABV, new exclusive American brew Anno 2011, from Beers of Europe Setchey, complex brew, spicy/bitter and slightly roasted/sweet, balanced, hazy, small head, good brew, yet expensive!

A shwartz beer, freshly acquired by Peter FM. Roasty but not a black IPA, some hops but more like some sourness in the finish. Lagerish. Lacey.OK drinkability.

Thanks to Peter. Pours dark brown with a little head and some head and minimal lacing. Theres some hops but hard to detect. Some tang at the end of taste. Thick consistency. Taste bitter with some malty aroma. Balance isn’t bad.
