4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 m2smith (1) - Holden, Massachusetts, USA - OCT 9, 2011 does not count
Deep red with carmel notes. Very drinkable unfiltered brew that was a complete delight paired with any slightly salty meal (chicken cordon bleu in this instance)
3.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Ernesto987 (1504) - Connecticut, USA - SEP 22, 2011

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 thornecb (3098) - Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 17, 2011
Pours an autumnal golden red into a shaker. Off-white micro head pancakes and leaves soapy lacing as it recedes to coat surface. Sweet toasted caramel and mild resin aromas. Sweet and dry with carmel, candy corn and toast upfront turning to slightly sour earthy leaves and hops in the lasting slightly hot finish.
4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20 jeckenroth (121) - Charlestown, Massachusetts, USA - AUG 22, 2011
Pours a moderate redish brown, darker at the top than the bottom. Still lets a fair amount of light through. Thick white head. Malty and hoppy to start. The lively combination washes through the palate and doesn’t let the hint of sweetness linger too long. This creates an incredible balance.
The bottle conditioning I think would warrant cellaring this for awhile to see if the complexity increases.
Amazingly well done. Need to find more before this runs out.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 philvil (156) - Massachusetts, USA - NOV 8, 2010
brownish red color with great texture and carbonation. sweet without being sticky. flavor is dominated by a very nice blend of hops.
Altoberfest compares favorably to a hoppy barleywine like Bigfoot. probably want to drink this soon so it doesn’t lose its hoppiness.
Element really does a great job with the hoppy beers; I hope they make a DIPA soon
3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 bhensonb (7586) - Woodland, California, USA - NOV 6, 2010
Element Altoberfest. One of the Interval Ales. 750 c&c from cakanator. Tag (like a doortag - has 3 autographs) indicates it’s #473 of 530. Bottled on 8/18/2010. Pours deep copper and darkly ruddy with a creamy tan head. Smells of malt and medium dark fruit. Near fully bodied;creamy/foamy carb. It’s very malty and it’s expressing a bit of heat. It’s definitely more bitter than sweet. Seems to have a good dose of hop. Even a bit astringent. Drinking like a dark, but not thick, strong ale. Really good.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 dogfish120love (537) - Westfield, Massachusetts, USA - SEP 13, 2010
Pours cherry wood with a slight mahogony hue. Thick white head. Limited offering from Element. Each bottle is numbered. it is an Alt beer modeled after an Octoberfest. The flavor is complex,. Very malty, without being overly sweet or cloying. The aroma is faint and somewhat earthy. The malt contributes a nice roasty flavor to the beer and the yeast contributes the flavor of leaves (Appropriate for fall)
