COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brix is a scale used to quantify the sugar content of an aqueous solution. We have saturated our Winter offering of Interval with beet sugars found in a Belgain Tripple, hops from an English Barley Wine, and fermented with our house strain of yeast. This beer, warm and hoppy, will keep the chills out this winter.

Sweet toffee and raisin nose. Taste is moderately sweet, lots of toffee, lots of raisin, rather astringent.

Pours clear brandy amber with a small very bubbly tan head that dissipates quickly. The aroma is sweet and light boozy sugars signature of the style the flavor is similar with clean light sweet sugars that slowly bring a bite that settles on a medium to light body.

A good beer, certainly full-bodied at 11.5%, just a bit heavy-handed in its execution. Quite sugary and perhaps overly so. I wonder what this beer will be like with time.

750ml bottle given to me as a Christmas gift. Bottle 750 of 860, bottled on November 15, 2010 and consumed on January 23, 2011. For a beer categorized as a barleywine, I’m definitely drinking this a little early for my tastes. However, I found myself with a relaxing afternoon on a very cold day (currently 7 degrees outside) and a beer a couldn’t resist. The pour is a deep murky red/brown with no head. It looks like the carbonation is very minimal for a bottle conditioned beer. The aromas are incredibly rich - sweet candi sugar, plenty of rich malts and spices. The flavors are also decadent. I feel like I’m drinking liquid mahogany, and I don’t even know what that means. The sweetness and richness is clear, but there are cleansing hops in the finish that tighten up the overall taste. The carbonation is indeed very light, but it seems to fit with this beer. The mouthfeel is silky and gentle, but not completely flat. The alcohol is there, but very well hidden. I’ve never heard of this brewery, but the have most assuredly caught my attention.

Bottle from Secret Santa. Clear copper color, no head. Mild aroma, light malts, some alcohol, not much else. Taste has some of the english hops up front, smooth on the back end, if a bit thin. A nice barleywine.
