(750ml bottled Oct 27, 2010, #7/587) cloudy rich ruby/brown pour with creamy tan head. Nose is rich, decadent, graham cracker, caramel, toasty, chocolate, light funk, and mossy. Taste is toasty, brown sugar, molasses, alcohol, caramel, hidden for the ABV though. Lightly under-carbonated.

This was a very interesting barley wine. It really cant be classified as an imperial stout in my opinion. The way the brewmaster described it to us was a double black ale. The malts really dominate in this one making it quite sweet but surprisingly easy to drink. I usually dont like sweet beers but this was nice. Notes of raisins, caramel, figs, licorice, and candy sugar.

6-56 written on the label at a table and vine tasting. Creamy dark sugar aroma. Thick an syrupy. Thick malts turn to sweet finish. Feels like I’m suckling at aunt jemima’s teet. This is a barleywine, not an imperial stout btw

25 oz bottle. Bottle 13. Brought this one along with me to the Rosso release, not expecting much. Pours a black as night body with darker off white head. Really interesting chocolate and caramel aromas, a little roasty, much more intense than the dark element. Palate is really smooth, not hot from the higher abv, the palate translated really well from the nose. Loads of complex darker chocolate, coffee, just really bracing and balanced. Highly recommended if you can get one.
