Commercial Description:
Editor's Note: Elephant Island was contacted and Crab Apple Fruit Wine was confirmed to be a "cider".

The Canadian Food and Drugs Act defines anything made from fermented Pears or Apples, up to and including 7% alc/vol as a cider - anything above that is classified as "wine". Fruit Wine is also defined under that Act as "wine made from the fermentation of fruits other than grapes."

[866-20071130] 375mL (w/ GregClow, jerc, tupalev). Boozy light apple aroma is a little tart. Clear, yellow orange body with no head. Slightly sour tart apples in the flavour with a hint of sweet at the beginning. Light-medium body. Definitely crab apple tartness, not bad.

Bottle shared with GregClow, Jerc, and Mabel, courtesy of J&M. Dry, very dusty aroma - nice apply goodness. Yellow body. Sweet apple in taste along with a nice tang, or tartness. Green. Simple, yet very tasty with complimenting alcohol. Nice stuff, thanks for sharing from your trip J&M!

Bottle. Golden yellow body. Apple juice aroma alternates between sweet and tart apples. (7+) Sweet apple up front in the flavour and middle with a finish that like the aroma varies between quite tart and concentrated appley sweetness. Smooth medium palate avoids being syrupy. Not spectacular, but does what it does with aplomb.

Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc & mabel - courtesy of jerc & mabel. Thanks for sharing, guys! Golden with a reddish tinge. Aroma is warm and, well, appley. Flavour starts sweet, finishes tart, and tastes like fresh apple juice with a slight boozy kick. Which is fine by me.

Bright copper colour. Light aroma has hints of apple & peach. Sweet & sour character with apple and hints of leather. Light icing sugar sweetness throughout with understated tartness towards the finish.

(375ml bottle) CW3 gathering. Purchased at the Strath Wine Merchant for $21. Pours a gorgeous peachy colour with a nose of dry white wine. Tart grapefruit upfront rolling into a pasty lime flavour. Very dry yet lip puckeringly good. Okay - incredibly tart... yikes. Tasty but a tad thin follow through in the palate.
