COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hailing from Cologne Germany this rare style of ale is served in a Stange glass to highlight its straw color, high carbonation, and easy drinkability. Notes of bread and a slight bitterness make this an easy drinking Ale.

Poured up on tap at Euclid Hall where it exhibits a crystal clear gold body thin bright white head. The aroma offers up sweetness, bready almost doughy maltiness a bit of corn. The taste is similar with doughy malts, a bit of lemon tartness, sweet corn and sweet maltiness. Overall this is decent albeit too sweet and heavy for a Kolsch. Sorry.

Tap. Straw color. Mild gain aroma. Well carbonated. On the sweet side for the style, and decent palate. Easy drinking as a pale lager substitute.

Easily a great kolsh style brew... don’t be scared fellow raters... this is a great one. And it’s an example of the style! It’s very crisp with that lager cleanliness but with a very nice malty forward taste and aroma that is ale like (you know you raters like that). Great job! YuM!

Dogbrick (8682) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 23, 2014
On draught at The Kitchen in Denver. The beer pours a clear yellow-gold color with lots of rising bubbles and a medium fizzy white head that dissipates steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of grassy hops, malt and fruit. Light-bodied with flavors of herbal hops, fruit and toasted malt. The finish is mildly bitter with a grassy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Pint at Euclid Hall. Almost clear with a little foam. This is a fruity version of a Kolsch. It is a pleasant beer. A bit of malts, and bread. Light yeast. Easy to drink. I liked it.

Blond, slightly hazy and a little bit grassy. Lots of sweet pale malt. Sweet palate, some grassy hop, light wheaty tartness but a touch of footy yeast character as well. As a kölsch goes, this would be fairly sweet, borderline out of balance.

16 ounce bottle - pours a hazy light gold - very low carbonation, though, with a minimal lace - there is a nice floral hop character to the nose, along with a touch of mineral and soft wheat tones - simple, but inviting - carbonation is a little low, but the texture is decent - fairly simplistic flavor, even for the style, but fairly enjoyable - medium dry, with low bitterness - some drying mineral character, the light tang of wheat, subtle hop flavor - finish has a mild note of DMS, but otherwise okay, despite its simplicity.

UPDATED: MAR 31, 2014 Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing.. Body is light to medium yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (flowers, herbs), with light notes of DMS and honey. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. I swore off this brewery after five very mediocre beers (two of which were terrible), but Mike suggested this wasn’t too shabby of a quaffer, and he was right. There aren’t many low-ABV pale beers available from microbreweries these days, where Imperial This and Imperial That rule the shelves. And this brewery is one of the typical offenders, too, where almost everything they make is 7.5% or higher. So it’s cool that they attempted a more drinkable type of beer and didn’t fail miserably at it. This admittedly is playing it too safe, though...very light aroma and very soft and simple in the mouth...it’s borderline boring, but that’s not the style’s fault nor the ABV’s fault, as there are fantastic examples of both out there. But I think it does require some specialization in low gravity, traditional old world brewing to get it right. The DMS seems to vary a bit from bottle to bottle, and sometimes makes it a little challenging to enjoy the nice hop bouquet. Quibbles aside, though, I’m pleased that a beginner brewery was able to make something at least drinkable in this vein...very worthy for mindless sluggin’ indeed.

Bottle. Clear gold with fine white head of moderate retention. Calcium / mineral touches on a pale malt core of baked crackers / bread. Faint corn-like notes. Light body, medium-low sweetness, medium to low bitterness, carbonation has mild brashness and aroma hops are a touch green / vegetal though altogether low and quiet.

Pours a hazy straw yellow, with small white head. Aroma is grass, straw, and citrus. Aroma is mildy spicy, citrus, grass. Not bad.
