16 oz bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head that quickly goes to a thin collar.
The aroma is rich chocolate and some grains.
The flavor is sweet grainy chocolate and caramel malts with some roast bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is a bit thin bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a solid roasted grainy chocolate porter. A bit thin.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottled at SBWF. Dark brown, small head. Chocolaty nose. Mid sweet with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Chocolate and caramel dominates. Growing resiny bitterness. Unfair comparison to have it side by side to Founders Porter.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a dark brown with small, quickly settling tan head. Aroma is heavy roast, burnt even, coffee. Flavor is roasted, mild chocolate, with a nutty, roasted, caramel, slightly hoppy finish. Roasted, chocolatey aftertaste. Moderate carbonation, medium body, and juicy texture. Seems to get better as it warms. A pretty good porter.

3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Pours black with a bit of a tan head. Really nice coffee and chocolate aromas. Up front sweetness andmalty, roasted barley qualities, but the middle seems a little too thin and crisp. Good, balanced hop flavors at the end, even if they aren’t ’appropriate for the style’.

@ South Denver Beer Fest 2013. Heavy dark brown with a thin light khaki head. Aroma of dark roast, a touch of coffee and just a hint of cocoa. Flavor is dark and roasty sweet with notes of coffee and chocolate, and roast. Very like the nose.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tap at Colorado +. Slightly translucent brown and creamy head. Nice chocolate and toasted malt with some smokiness. Taste follows...sweet up front and bitter dark malt finish with a little peat. Bit thin, but otherwise really solid porter. Will probably become a go-to when I am in the mood.

Pour is initially fizzy and unappealing, but the carbonation quickly dies down and leaves a fairly thick, frothy tan lace - nose is dominated by chocolate and caramel maltiness at first, but there is a balancing bitterness and tartness, coupled with some earthy/peaty notes that makes up for the initial sticky sweetness - low carbonation, medium body - initially quite sweet, but some roast, char, and bitterness develop through the middle to balance - some espresso and bittersweet dark chocolate - finish is lighty earthy, medium dry, somewhat bitter - a little hint of peat at the very end - I’m liking this - quite a traditional rendition.
