750ml in a Trip Karm glass. Beautiful Chardonnay driven oak on the nose. Nice balance of belgian yeast and hops, a little funk too on the palate. Very unique as Iíve experienced many chardonnay barrel aged brews, but none that showed as much chard as this one. Excellent.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pour on tap at the Denver Summer Brew Fest, hazy yellow pour with white head, aroma brought notes of nice chardonnay, hints of oak, vanilla, some sour lemon and fruity notes, touch of peppery spice, nice smelling for sure. Taste is on the sweet side, lots of chardonnay, white grape and wine like notes leading into some sweet biscuit, slight white fruit, hints of pepper and spice notes, finishing fairly sweet but dry.

The pour is a rusty auburn color with a moderate, pillowy, white head which is somewhat diminishing and leaves tight lace rings. The nose is oak dominant with lots of vanilla, plenty of earthy tones, some orange blossom, very toasty, oak shavings, and and some caramel. The flavor is similar with plenty of shaved oak, sweet vanilla, toasted caramel, almonds, light orange notes, and an earthy presence throughout. The palate is medium, silky, round, drying, and soft to lively. The finish is drying, slightly tart with orange, some bitter earthy notes, and still the oak notes left on the tongue. A very nice beer to drink and very oak dominant. The base beer is hard to distinguish but does balance the beer with some tartness, light bitterness, and dryness to match the dry oak notes. I am beginning to love this brewery.

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Bottle # 02898 from Summer 2012. Pours a hazy amber with a tall, foamy tan head. Aroma is woody and wine-like with earthy notes, yeast, grains and ripe fruits. Taste is wood, earthy notes, yeast, fermented fruits, grape skins, wine notes, sweet malt, toasted grains and caramel. Body is medium with a moderate, bubbly carbonation and light stickiness. Oak barrels more pronounced during the finish and thereís a touch of coconut as a results. Add more yeast, ripe fruits, earthy notes, straw, toasted grains, caramel, and wine. Nice beer! Based on it being almost a year old, this has aged well!

Draft at the brewery. Pours a medium, off white, well retained head, with minimal lacing, over a hazy amber copper (SRM 15) body.....nose is very vinous, with light raisin, slight fig tones, hints of vanilla, tropical fruit overlays ( mango, melons).....taste is very vinous, light vanilla, hints of raisin, fig, heavier mango, light sweetness, hints of musty funk....mouth feel medium, carbonation high. This is quite complex in both aromas and flavors, with the barrel aging, while present was not overly dominant. This was aged in Chardonnay barrels. What would a red barrel do? BJCP 8/3/15/4/7

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2013 A mild but tasty Belgian ale. Reddish brown, cloudy with a white head. Fruity, slightly sour, and a bit sweet. Doesnít taste as alcoholic (7.5%) as it is.
