Snifter at Elevator. Not sure if this is the same as Vic’s Barleywine, but it tastes nothing like the Vic’s I had last year, so I’ll rate here and if they get combined later, so be it. Clear amber pour with a thin bubbly tan head. Caramel and toffee aroma with some fruit and solvent. Malty caramel and toffee flavor with some dark fruit character before a boozy finish.

UPDATED: JAN 18, 2010 Sample at the brewpub. The beer pours a dark orange-amber color with a thick and foamy light beige head that dissipates slowly. Sticky sheet of lacing on the glass. Aroma of spiced hops, malt and macaroni-n-cheese. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, sharp hops and sweet fruit. The finish is malty up front but is quickly overtaken by astringent hops that leaves a lingering bitterness. Slightly above average overall.

Clear copper color/ tan head. Pit fruit sweet n’ spicy aromas with mild oxidation. medium body. Flavor mirrors aroma with sharp, sweet n’ spicy caramel, pit fruit flavors. Nice alcohol twang to finish.
