On tap at the Columbus Micro Brew fest. A perfect example of barrel aging gone to far. A pomegranate wheat ale barrela ged 6 MONTHS in early times or jack daniel bottles. Not sure what the brewers were thinking but I can’t imagine anyone on here would think that 6 months of barrel aging a wheat beer is a good idea. Reality proves it is not. Pours a light honey gold with no carbonation...The aroma is super sweet, totally generic fruit notes, what you would expect from a pomegrante wheat, light oak and alcohol... The taste is horrendous, light oak, wheat, generic acidict fruits. Taste is carbonated grossness, its like drinking a sparking water with fake pomegrante juice. Don’t barrel age wheat beers!!!!

Sample at the North Market Columbus Microbrew fest on 09/26/2010. Other than the big berry like nose, I didnt detect too much pomegranate in this. It tends to be a bitter fruit to me, and that was definitely in this. Grass, bread, and bitterness.

UPDATED: DEC 8, 2010 Sample at the North Market Columbus Microbrew fest on 09/26/2010: The beer is a clear orange color with a thin and dense off-white head that lasts awhile. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Sweet and sour fruit aroma, with some wheat notes. Medium body with flavors of tart fruit, sweet malt and oak. The finish is fruity with a short oaky aftertaste. I honestly could not have picked out pomegranate had it not been in the name, still an interesting brew due to the barrel aging.
