COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vic Shiltz took a session-worthy Red Ale and aged it in a bourbon barrel. This is a medium bodied beer thats been kicked up a notch. NATCH!

Firkin version at Barley’s 8th Annual Mini RAF (05/22/10): This beer pours a clear dark reddish-brown color with a thin and dense light beige head that dissipates to a film eventually. Spotty lacing. Aroma of tart fruit and caramel. Medium, smooth body with flavors of caramel malt, fruit and bourbon. The finish is oaky with a dark malt and bourbon aftertaste. Above average overall.

Firkin sample at the 2010 Barley’s Mini Real Ale Fest. Clear amber pour with no head. Oaky bourbon nose with notes of apple and caramel. Flavor is oaky vanilla, bourbon and caramel. I’m not a bit fan of beers of this style being barrel-aged, but it was still an okay brew.

Draft at Barleys MRAF. Poured clear reddish brown color with an average off-white frothy head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted malt, wood, bourbon and alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy toasted sweet malt flavor with a medium to heavy bourbon sweet finish of moderate duration. My expectations where exceeded.

Had on draft at Barleys Mini Real Ale Fest (Columbus). Holy Bourbon Batman! The nose on this was allllll bourbon. It smelled GREAT. Flavor was delishiously mild and well blended. Caramel, bourbon, nuts, cherries and vanilla. This was the second favorite beer of the night and a real surprise for the Elevator. This one was wickedly drinkable.
