COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Vic aged his stout in a bourbon barrel. It pours a dark brown with a red whiskey hue. Bourbon is evident, with a hint of oak and undeniable malt.

Firkin version at Barley’s 8th Annual Mini RAF (05/22/10): Pours black with with a thin beige head that has large bubbles and dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of oak, bourbon and baker’s chocolate. Rich and smooth body with flavors of oaky bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and malt. The finish is a bourbon-infused cherry cordial with a dark malty aftertaste. Pretty good all around.

Firkin sample at the 2010 Barley’s Mini Real Ale Fest. Pours darkest brown to black with no head. Aroma is of sherry, bourbon, oaky vanilla and some chocolate. Bourbon flavor up front (but not overpowering) with vanilla and a bitter dark chocolate finish. Pretty nice. I’ve often been disappointed with the porters Elevator has barrel-aged because they’re too thin and weak to stand up to the barrel (and end up tasting like vanilla coke), but this one was solid.

Had on draft at Barleys Mini Real Ale Fest (Columbus). Very nice aroma of vanilla, bourbon, coffee and cherries. Flavor was surprisingly mild. Bourbon very well hidden. Texture was a bit thin, but this was very drinkable. Flavor was chocolate, vanillia, cherries and vanilla.
