I taste a chalkyness... not pleasant. m&d: slightly chewy mouth, medium bodied

bottle @ Vino Bellissimo / Lima OH --- Clear mahogany amber with an over-zealous (takes over the glass - 6"+) tan head, globs of lace. Nice aroma of malt and hops. Taste is dark caramel malt that grows some in the palate before adding citrus hops in a finish that lingers into straight bitter. A good "American" ESB - lots of body good malt and hops.

Tap, pours is red and taste like a pretty standard bitter, it had a bit of a cereal finish and it was drinkable.

12oz bottle pours a hazy brown with tons of frothy white head. Nose has some earthy malt, honeycomb but also a lot of wet paper bag, cracker too. Flavor has walnut skin, toast, wet paper bag. Herbal finish. Just bad.

12oz bottle into La Petite Tulipe - head galore! nose is sour and full of foam - yay old fucking beers. I will need to rerate this. this is probably even older than the Ohio Brewing Cardinal beer I’m storing for some reason. Tastes like metal... gross.

Draft at a Max & Erma’s in Dayton. Poured a medium reddish amber, slight head. Aroma was faintly of caramel malts. Flavor matched, with some slight earthy hop notes on the finish that kept it from being too cloying. Fairly full bodied. Definitely boring. Not bad, but just wasn’t my cup of tea. Or mug of beer.

From a bottle smells rather friendly but then that first taste is wake up call. Yes, malty slightly sweet smell turns into big bud blast. Must be close to 7% or more, if that’s possible. Big long bitter alky malt finish. Some co2 almost saves my palate.

Bottle from Arvin. Yeasty, homebrew aroma. Massive head which exploded a bit upon opening. Sharp, malty caramel taste. Moderate bitter finish. Dry.

Rated on 5-15-2010 at Bock & Rock event in Minster, OH. This bottled beer pours a small ivory head with a short retention, transparent golden body, very little carbonation observed, and a good amount of lacing. The aroma is lightly malty, sweet and apples. The taste is sweet, lightly acidic, lightly malty, and lightly hoppy. The palate is smooth and this beer is medium bodied. In conclusion, this beer is rather bland and boring tasting and not a beer I would drink again.
