COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
You have just picked up a Winner. Dark Horse Lager came from behind in a field of 2,832 to win a BRONZE MEDAL* at the Great American Beer Festival. This very well-balenced, deep copper brown lager has a great lightly hopped character with drinkability that leaves you wanting another.

Pours large large white foam. Dark Carmel color. A slight metallic lager taste. Ok but slightly slightly sweet. ---Rated via Beer Buddy

@ Buffalo Wings/Columbus. Clear dark mahogany with a partial head cover and lace curtains. Taste is toasted malt that pushes toward chocolate at the back end of the palate. Bittering is not enough to balance, leaving a lingering sticky sweetness. Average.

Had a pint on tap at the brewery. Delicious. Refreshing, slightly smoky, almost fruity.

12 oz bottle purchased just a few days ago near brewery. Pours dark brown, clear, with a modest size head that has good retention and leaves a moderate amount of sticky lacing on the glass. The aroma is less attractive than hoped, with some earthy hop pellets and roasted grains. The flavor is similar in description but somewhat better and more complex. Near medium body with medium carbonation.

Some dark notes of chocolate and malts, but, much like the IPA, easily forgettable. Well made, but nothing that grabs your attention and won’t let go.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown to amber with a large beige head of foam. Good retention. The aroma has a nice ashy, roasty, slightly spicy character. The taste is a lot like a cola and root beer mix. Fizzy and soda like in mouthfeel as well. For the style, this is superb, but it still just isn’t really my thing.

Pours a clearish black with a thin beige head. Aroma of metal and alcohol similar to what you would expect from a red. This beer is a really fantastic offering that tastes of chocolate the warmer is gets.

12 ounce bottle pours an amber brown color with aromas of light roast, caramel, toast and bread. Flavors were the same light roast in the aftertaste, decent beer overall.

3/4/13. 12oz bottle found randomly in a tub in the RBWG aftermath... thanks, whoever! Clear ruby red brown pour with a small khaki head that doesn’t last. Light toasted bread and dough aroma with touches of caramel and very light coffee. Nicely balanced toasty malt flavor with a bit of astrigency and caramel. Actually nice for what it is.

Draft: Pors clear, red-brown, short, off-white head. Scent is chocolate, caramel-cola. Taste is much the same with a soft bittering. Nice.
