3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Sample at Rivage Atlantique. The beer pours dark brown with a medium light tan head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt and peppers. Medium body with contrasting flavors of sweet malt and peppery spices. The finish is roasty with a residual peppery burn lingering. Decent overall.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
16oz Draught from brewpub. Appearance is dark brown color with light, off-white head. Aroma is relatively weak with notes of caramel and toast. Taste is marked by pepper spicy flavors, smoke, nuts, and nice caramel malts. Minus the pepper flavors, it's a solid brown ale. Palate is medium bodied, slightly thin texture, light carbonation, and a sweet, hot burning pepper finish. A unique beer with a decent balance.
