In short: An average typical American imperial stout. Very good beer but one amoung so many.

The look: Black body with a medium tan head
In long: This is the January beer of their 12 “Monthly Real Beer Selection”. A whole of lot of burnt malts, borderline ashes. Some cacao powder and some raisins. A little oaky sourness although I was told that this beer wasn’t barrel aged. Floury mouthfeel and taste. Medium bitterness. A well brewed beer but nothing I haven’t had many times before. Good but quite a letdown after their excellent Barrel-Aged Porter. But this is the modern way to do beer in America, bigger is better. Stairs brewing company probably closed down many years ago because they were making 5% stouts.
