3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 JaBier (3249) - Capital City, USA - SEP 10, 2010
On tap at Elevator. I had a sneaking suspicion that this was the same beer as their Over the Top IPA and that suspicion went out the window when I tried it. I suppose it could be the same and my palate was just jacked the first time I had it (or now), but I really think this one is different and much better. Pours clear orange/amber with a medium white head. Citrusy and grassy hop nose with a bit of malt. Spicy and grassy hop flavor with some citrus. Finishes very bitter and almost astringent.
3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Tmoney99 (7300) - Cincinnati, Ohio, USA - SEP 4, 2010
Draft. Poured clear copper color with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy complex floral hop aroma. Medium body with slick texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy smooth bittersweet flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate duration. This is a good beer.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 1010 (310) - Marysville, Ohio, USA - AUG 16, 2010
Very high drinkability despite the big alcohol content. Good citrus hops taste and aroma. Would order this one again.
Draft at brewpub. This is the MBA selection for August.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - AUG 12, 2010
UPDATED: SEP 2, 2010 Sample at the brewpub, this is the August selection in Elevator’s "MBA" program. The beer is a clear golden color with a medium foamy ivory colored head that dissipates slowly. Citrus and sweet malt in the nose. Medium to full body with a ripe citrusy character spiked by hops. Some toasted malt in the background as well. The finish is citrusy hops with a lingering bitterness left over. Not really memorable, but above average overall.
