On tap at Elevator back in October. They hadn’t yet tapped the PhD beer, so they gave me a choice between last month’s PhD beer (the Smoked Porter) and this one (the MBA beer for October). Clear amber pour with a a thick tan head. Nose is cinnamon, allspice, clove and malt. Cinnamon spice flavor with a bit of banana and clove with a creamy wheat malt finish. Not bad, and certainly better than expected from a blend of those two styles.

UPDATED: JAN 16, 2011 On draught at the brewpub, this is the September selection in Elevator’s "PHD" program. The beer is a clear dark amber color with a medium thin beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of pumpkin, malt and sweet spices. Medium body with a sweet pumpkin character and notes of ginger, nutmeg and malt. The finish is malty with a pumpkin aftertaste. Decent overall.
