Draft at brewpub. Poured clear brown pour with a moderate off-white fizzy head that lasted and had good lacing. Solid toasted malt, small smoke and earthy aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Good smokey toasted malt flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good drinkable brew.

Time to go to work. Pours a dark, clear amber. Looks can be decieving. Sweet malt, chocolate, and slight nut flavor on the nose. Very nice taste with sweet malt, chocolate and smoke with a strong lingering finish.
2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 Dogbrick (4842) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 1, 2004
Another seasonal from the Elevator, this beer is a dark amber color with a medium thin beige head. Thin but sticky lacing. The aroma is very malty and smoky. Medium-bodied with an intense smoke character. Malt, caramel and a bit of hops are overpowered by the smoke flavor which just about ruins the beer for some reason. The finish is lightly bitter with malt undertones and again the smoke. All in all this would be an enjoyable beer but it is not only the smokiest Scottish I have had, but probably the smokiest beer period.
