3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This rating has to take into account the fact that we are talking about a session beer, and what a very good one it is. Crisp, fruity, with a real hoppy tang. I drank it in the same bar that served Adnam’s Southwold, a king amongst session ales, and if it stands comparison with that, it is a good beer indeed. If you see this around, give it a try. It certainly kicks a major southern brewery’s bland rubbish a kick up the bum!

Too dark to be trendy, but a suprising amount of flavour here. Unusual blend of bittering hops. A session beer and I had several.

(Cask at GBBF, London, 4 Aug) Colour is dark amber with a frothy off-white head. Nose is malty, nutty with dusty hops. Taste starts malty, turns fruitier and ends in a long balanced finish with lots of earthy and dusty hops. Rather dry. Great taste regarding the low abv. Good session beer.

UPDATED: JUL 2, 2007 Cask. A very acceptable session beer with lots of flavour for its strength. Plenty of malt flavours and strong hoppy finish. Quite similar to Adnams Bitter me thinks. Rerate: quite dark, faily malty still good but as good as before.

Cask at the Basketmakers’ Arms, Brighton, East Sussex, England on 23rd May 2009. A very pleasant session bitter, amber in colour with a head lasting at least three-quarters down the glass with some lacing. Malt and hop intermingle without domination by either to produce a bitter-sweet balance on a fairly smooth mouthfeel. Not an ale to go mad about, but if available on a warm summer evening give it a go - it’s a quencher.
