3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 McNeillR (76) - SCOTLAND - JAN 18, 2012
Clear and ragged lemony nose, solid dark yellow clarity with no distinctive head once settles.
Hurried initial taste with an even spread afterward, continuing the citrus fully with lingering zest. A refreshing effort that doesnt need to be rushed.

Bottle. Deep gold with a large fluffy head. Aromas are biscuit malts with citrus and light pine. Fresh and zesty. Flavours are zesty lemon with dry biscuit. Lots of grapefruit - sweet and not too bitter. Buttery and soft but tasty. Slightly too aggressive in its carbonation.

Bottled, pasteurised, 500ml from Booths, Poulton, Lancs. Gold with white head. Quite a sharp metallic, CO2 note initially, but this smooths out to a reasonable, fruity malty beer, not great depth but an orange like hop shows through. Ok.

500ml bottle. Pours a light amber with a nice large white head. Not much on the nose, some faint malt and a hint of hops. Sweet and grassy, with hoppy, strong bitter finish. Enough body for the strength and a good amount of carbonation.

Bottle, shared by fonefan. It pours a slightly hazy golden-orange body with a small off-white head. Fruity and malty nose, quite citrusy, with a cellarish note. Fruity, citrusy flavor with a roasted touch and a hint of cellar. Medium body. Citrusy, bitter finish with some chalky notes. Pleasant bitterness that lasts. A quite decent, quaffable and quenching golden ale. (080822)
