3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, - JAN 29, 2008
UPDATED: MAY 31, 2008 Jan 2008
500ml bottle from Morrisons. A vegetable malt with some spice. Hops are not well balanced between the English and the American. Hops are quite firm, but not fresh and fragrant - a dull bitterness, rather cardboardy and powdery. Some greasy butter in here. Not impressed. [2.4]
May 2008 Floral fragrance. Nicely balanced. Tasty and refreshing. [3.2]
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2012
Brown 500ml bottle, best before 29 April 2011, drank mid July 2010, so fairly fresh. Poured twice into a half pint sleeve.
The beer is a lovely golden colour (hence the name!), the snow white head sadly had no staying power although it did leave some heavy lacing on the glass.
The nose was hoppy as was the taste, sharp and refreshing. The label lists a host of hops used in the brew, buy a bottle to find out which!
Easy drinking and well worth trying.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 10/20 ralphdot (612) - Billingham, Durham, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2011
4.6% golden colour with a thin head, yeasty hop aroma, dry hoppy taste, quite good beer.
2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20 Joeh (2036) - Buckinghamshire, ENGLAND - AUG 12, 2011
Bottle. Dark golden colour with a tiny white head. Hoppy aroma. Quite thin with a bitter hop finish. Quite unbalanced but drinkable enough.
3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 maeib (6634) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - MAY 4, 2010
Bottled. A golden beer with a whitish head. A tale of two halves. At first this has barely any aroma followed by bitterness in the mouth and fruitiness intermingled with cardboard and a strange fizzy feel. There’s a bit of shampoo too. But then whaoah! Where did that come from? As good orangey citrus notes shine through. These must be the cascades. Becomes really juicy and good. Where were the good bits at the start though?

Bottle. Deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is malt, flower. Flavour is malt, hop, flower, grain, citrus, hop. Medium body. Ordinary beer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 pivnizub (7231) - Bochum, Porúří, GERMANY - OCT 28, 2009
Bottle: deep golden, a bit unclear, medium-sized and stable lacy, fluffy off-white head; distinctive floral hops and a tinge of sulphur in the nose; dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied and soft; shorter hoppy, juicy and fruity finish. Just a fine english brew.......
3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 rauchbier (3205) - Isle Of Beer, Lincolnshire, ENGLAND - OCT 20, 2009
Bottle, from Tesco Scunthorpe. Faintly hazy gold, good lasting fluffy white head and pleasant condition. Gentle fruity grain notes and solid citrus hops in the nose, quite fruity in the mouth initially, with a full bodied chalky graininess and a developing citrus hoppiness that becomes predominantly bitter with time. Bitter hoppiness lingers into the finish with even a suggestion of low levels of bretty Orval-like hop sack lurking.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ungstrup (23961) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 3, 2009
Bottled. A golden beer with a thin white head. The aroma has strong notes of lemon - is it from lemongrass? but also with notes of malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and lemon - I would never have guessed it came from Cascade hops - my guess was lemongrass, leading to a slightly acidic finish. Thanks fonefan for sharing.
3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - AUG 11, 2009
(bottle) Hazy, golden colur with a medium-sized, minimal off-white foamy head. Flowery and lemon-fruity, slightly zesty hops aroma with a moderate malty sweetness. Bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied with a calm carbonation. Pale malty taste with traces of biscuits and a blend of fruity, bitter and woody hops; initially dry character that sweetens towards the rather short finish. Aromatic and uncomplicated Ale (11.VIII.09).
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 bacchanalia (145) - milton, Cambridgeshire, ENGLAND - JUN 17, 2009
There’s nothing wrong with this beer, pale, bit of malt & slight citrus, fairly refreshing, but at the end of the day why bother. I know it’s nice & cheap but there’s so many better beers out there for a few pence more. Don’t get me wrong though drink this before any of the chemically mass produce rubbish available, but your report card would read ’could do better’.
