Dover Fest. Very soapy aroma. Gentle mouthfeel with a mild fruit flavour. Quite sweet. Boiled sweets. Very faint coffee. Pleasant enough without breaking any barriers.

Cask @ The Three Guineas. Pours dark ruby brown with a creamy tanned head leaving lacing. Aroma is sweet, acidy, roasted, molassis and fruity. Flavor is roasted malty, fruity, dark fruits, sweet and bitter. Finishes roasted, bitter and sweet.

Cask, handpull at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford 08.01.11 Pours dark brown, creamy, nutty and roasty but very smooth and very drinkable, some light chocolate touches, damn good beer. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Virtually black with cream head. Quite a fruity, slightly sweet Porter, a touch of strawberry in the background. then a roasty, husky note giving a little bitterness and depth, there is some tartness in the fruity element and finishes with an earthy character. Pretty reasonable.

UPDATED: MAR 22, 2011 Cask Conditioned handpump Wig & Pen Northampton. A very dark brown beer with a ruby hue and a whitish head and lacing. Good creamy coffee in the mouth with roasted malts. The aroma is thin but the malty flavours include good bitterness in additon to the coffee. A noted lack of chocolate. Score 3.6
Subsequent ratings scored 3.8, 3.5 and 3.7. Average becomes 3.6

Cask - The Fat Cat, Norwich. Pours a very ruddy ruby with marginally lighter edges. Atop sits a bubbly, doming but short beige head. Dark roasted, chocolatey malt aromas with lighter notes of coffee. On the tongue, more roastiness and bitter chocolate with a touch of dark tobacco, a mild smokiness and a dry, lingering semi-sweet bitter finish. Great, soft palate with just a touch of carbonation on a medium body.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2009 Cask, Swan and Rushes Winter Fest. Headless pitch wafting with coal smoke. Dusty choc, espresso and smoke. Solid, sulphurous, nicely burnt porter. Too much for Nav.

Handpulled cask at the Marriners, Great Yarmouth. Almost black with a creamy tan head. Lovely rich flavour of chocolate and burnt malt. Very well balanced and warming.

(Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm, 17 Dec 2007) Pitch black colour with creamy, pale brown head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of cold black coffee and cocoa. Roasted, malty taste with loads of chocolate and cocoa, hints of sweetness and a lovely cocoa bitterness in the finish. Very nice, traditional porter.

Cask at Akkurat, Stockholm. Very dark ruby. Light on coffee and molasses. Medium bodied with rounded mouthfeel. Salty and malty, light flavoured but dense and focused.
