Cask conditioned at Far From the Madding Crowd, Oxford. Dark amber with white head. Initially, dry, slightly roasty malts, some cereal but quite understated, then a pleasant, dryish, leafy hop brings everything up a gear. Quaffable but not over exciting.

The Crown, Nuneaton. Deep chestnut with an off-white, creamy collar. Distant damp varnished wood and strawberry aroma. Mouth cherry stone and astringency; plastic, rum and watery nut traces. What a dribble of tedium. Raging bull? Whimpering calf.
