Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - Cambridge BF. A very very dark brown coloured stout. The aroma has some sourness and some fruit and is not too nice. The taste has a little smokiness and some sweetness, but it’s really not very nice and way too thin and dull.

Cask (gravity dispense), Cambridge Beer Festival, May 2006. Elgoods make some rather good darker beers, so I was keen to give this special a go. Sadly, it was something of a disappointment. Deep reddish brown colour, but not that dark for a stout. Odd vegetal aroma. Some dry roasted malt on the palate but not much else. Dry, distinctly bitter, finish. Rather thin for a stout (more like a porter really) and desperately short of interest. Not horrible, just dull.

Cask at Cambridge Beer Festival 2006. Black coloured. An odd, savoury tasting and oily stout with big flavours of black bean sauce and monosodium glutamate. Quite unpleasant.
