On tap @Beerland Trilussa (Rome). Pours a cloudy reddish color with a medium white head. Aroma is malty, biscuit, caramel, earthy notes, grass, fruits. Flavour is quite balanced, medium malt profile with a decent bitter end. Medium body, light carbonation. Nothing special.

(Bottle) Clear copper with reasonable but short lived head. Subtle, lightly malty aroma with some nice hop notes. Medium body with mouth-filling carbonation. Very nice rich taste - toffee malts with spicy and bitter notes. Excellent.

Reasonable aroma - thin looking clear browny red with little head. Medium carbonation giving initial fizz in mouth and zing aftertaste. Bitter sweet with dry finish - drink ability improved with standing.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
A deep red colour with small head works with a sweet and slightly bitter aroma, hints of banana as well. Taste is earthy and roasted with fruity hints as well, a really nice mix of the two which makes it very drinkable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle courtesy of Barry at Lynn and Barry’s, Merton (cheers you two) Saturday 13th December 2014. Rich toffee dominates, colour in (note it is in subdued light) appears tawny. Fairly traditional, malty with English hops (probably). Par for the course for Elgoods. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1

Bottle shared with McTapps. Fine one with some straw, hops and moderate bitterness. Sweetish towards the end. Not bad.

Bottle brought back home from England. The beer pours out in a clear light amber colour with airy low head and medium body. Aroma of barley and bitter hops. Taste of bitter hops, barley, nuts, flowers and herbs. Dry-bitter finish. Drinkable and refreshing, yet nothing very special.

Bottle. My first from this brewery for a long time-bought from Tesco’s in Dudley. Very clear with a small head. Slightly bitter with a medium body. Perhaps a bit too heavily pasteurised-would like to see if there is more flavour in the cask version. Impressive label but does the crowded shelves of today really need another strong bitter?
